Recently many undeserving people have received sympathy or memorials.

Michael Jackson was on the fucking news for months and we all know he fucked little kids. "Oh he was a great performer though!" So fucking what? Die and go away you weirdo.

Roman Polanski is being defended by some even after drugging and raping a 13 year old. "Oh he makes works of art!" Your point? Arrest him.

Kobe Bryant? A rapist, but since jocks want to sniff his sweaty balls he gets excused. Oh Kobe, you da best.

Michael Vick? Why did he get to play again? Fuck him.

What is with all this undue excusing or memorializing of people who have done horrible things? Does action even matter anymore? It seems if you have influence, money, or fans you just get a pass.

Or how about these people famous for who knows what? Lohan, Paris Hilton etc... it's like a fucking curse. Oh boy, some gossip columnist or fashion asshole pays attention to them, surely we should devote news time to them! Not like something important could be going on somewhere. Call me crazy but I thought you had to do more than maintain a pulse to gain attention.

It makes me want to blow myself up.

Raise your hand if you agree! You'll get... well nothing. Anyone feel the same? Why does this happen? Why do our news channels feel compelled to treat us like dumb children?

Because we are dumb children. And so are you.

Right now you are giving them your so called undeserved attention by talking about them.

Some people have waaaaaaaaaaayyyy too much time on their hands.

Others have no sense of direction in how they should lead their lives and what they should aspire too.

And some others are stupid enough to care

Michael Vick? Why did he get to play again? Fuck him.

He served his time, he was convicted and served his punishment. Why should he not get his second chance at life and doing what he does best? Why should he not use his time constructively?

If you ignore it, it'll go away. Unfortunately, you'll be one of the 10% of people doing the ignoring, so your contribution won't matter all that much and the problem will continue.

I agree. They're arseholes like everyone else, why aren't they subject to the law? It doesn't have a 'except famous people' bit, I checked.

The law said Michael Jackson was not guilty. So why are you claiming that he is? Are you above the law? You can't apply that logic to whenever it suits you.

One thing about Polanski:

He didn't drug and rape ANYONE. The girl confirmed few times that she wanted to have sex with him. The only thing he's guilty of is being a pedo, but even then it's stretching if he wasn't sure if it was a 13 year old or a 18 year old.

Yes, I do know some girls that look a lot, A LOT younger than they are. And some that are older than they are.

Jeez, another Michael Jackson trasher. Aren't you original.
Do you even have proof he did that? And even if your going to slander him, get your facts straight, he was ACCUSED of MOLESTING children.
And he was on the news when he died because he was a musical genius, I'd like to see you attempt to achieve even a fraction of what he achieved in his early years.

Get a life you prick.
Nooo, people are just ignorant. That's ignorance.

Wow, where do I begin? Lesse...

MJ was acquitted. Unless you were there you cannot say definitively that he ever did anything illegal. Strange, by his own admission yes, but illegal, no. I know OJ was acquitted (I'm being preemptive now), but that's an apples and oranges argument since his accusers can't come forward and admit they're committing fraud on account of being dead, unlike the MJ case.

I don't even understand the mentality with this one. They guy's an admitted rapist, but I guess celebs like to look out for their own, kinda like all those black actors trying to save Wesley Snipes from jail. Here's a fun thought, what if Wesley Snipes and Roman Polanski switched places on this? Hmm....

I thought that Kobe's accuser also admitted she was lying? I'm still in the dark here, but in America it's innocent until proven guilty. I'm not defending the guy, but I'm not going to condemn him either. Seriously, women falsely cry rape all the time, and unfortunately, more than anything, they hurt other women that have actually been raped.

Michael Vick? Didn't he serve time? Wasn't he actually punished for what he did (albeit perhaps leniently)? So what, go to jail and take your punishment like a man and then once you do so your career, which has nothing to do with the criminal activity, should be over? Sounds to me like he may as well be exiled or executed by these standards.

I'm with you on undue memorializing. Personally, and I may get heat for this, Ulysses Grant fought to preserve slavery and segregation. To me that'd be like a Hitler memorial in Berlin. The crimes were not altogether equal, yes, but the shame is somehow still pretty parallel.

Paris Hilton is rich. Sycophants and well connected parents along with people that suck the teats of reality TV made her a "star". Lohan legitimately worked for her fame. I don't see the comparison.

It's been said, but this thread is giving these people you apparently loathe more attention than you apparently feel they deserve. I'd suggest from now on that you change the channels and try to ignore them. It won't go away, but you don't have to participate if that'd make you feel less angry about it. It's what I do, and it's surprisingly effective.

What? You mean you think that celebrities shouldn't be tried?

Also, please point out where exactly I said I was above the law. Also, tell me where I mentioned Michael Jackson. At least they made an effort. My gripe is with the bastards who are famous for taking a great deal of drugs yet never see a prison cell.

And what the hell are you doing talking about my logic? Where, please, am I going wrong?

Did you even READ my comment?

Well you say "They're arseholes like everyone else, why aren't they subject to the law?" With "they" I assume you mean celebrities and other famous people. The thing is that they do get trials just like anybody else. I took the vivid example of Michael Jackson's trial, on which he was found not guilty. Apparently in your opinion some of these celebrities are guilty, despite the fact that they were found not guilty by law. So either you abide the law and come to terms with their lawful innocence, or you say that your own judgment is more important than the law's.

So far, I thought the thread was about people evading justice because of popularity. Oh, and whilst I don't begrudge the second MJ trial, what about the first? Didn't that one not make it to a verdict because he paid off the kid? Doesn't smack of innocence to me, really.

No, my complaint is against those above the law, as was pretty damn clear in the original post if you'd taken the time to read it rather than assume I have an entire agenda. Everyone should be subject to it. You'd think after reading my explanation of my position, you'd get that, and not continue to misunderstand. Let me state it clearly for you: Celebrities shouldn't get special treatment. And yes, some celebs don't get it, but others do. For example Roman Polanski in France.

Please don't ascribe bullshit opinions to me, then call me out on them. It just drives me to the conclusion you're desperate to be right about something.

Use the eight paths of your avatar and relax for a moment. I didn't know Kobe Bryant or Michael Vick and assumed they were dead just like MJ as the OP's first example. I don't live in the US and I don't watch sports so I didn't know them until I looked them up just now. My idea of this thread was that people were dissing on celebrities while they were alive, but that they receive an untouchable godlike status when they die, hence the Celebrity Worship title. There are many examples of this: Notorious BIG, Tupac, Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson, ...

I realize my mistake now, I apologize, and I agree with your statement.
