i think there are a number of things team fortress 2 could do better. there could be more classes (like an assault rifle class), better maps, (not every fight needs to be centered around one tiny control point) and more tools you could use to make fights different.

how would you change team fortress 2?

I wouldn't as it is the best multiplayer game out there, because it is balanced AND fun, halo 3 sucks horribly because it is way too balanced, and COD4 is fun, but is totaly unbalanced.

Probably make it require more skill. You can say the people in that server can't aim, but all it takes is for me to be a scout and they can't hit me unless they're a pyro/heavy and that's only when they're spamming.

Also, you should put an "e" between r and s. There are an awful lot of spelling nazis here.

I miss grenades.

But TF2 doesn't need them.
Precisely. TF2 isn't about requiring a lot of skill, or being completely balanced. It's about simple teamwork, and a whole lot of explosions.

Also, the lack of an assault rifle class is actually a good thing. No assault rifle-ers encourages experimentation with other classes instead of just reverting to good old AR.

Tutorial maybe. Perhaps local play. It could also stand to have deathmatch somehow. The spawn system also just begs spawn camping, maybe add some way to open the shutter without walking into it.

Doesn't that suggest the people you play against suck? I've never had troubles against scouts, they can dodge one, maybe two, but eventually I catch them at a time it's impossible for them to dodge, and that's with slow weapons like rocket launcher.

So yes, I do totally suggest the people in that server can't aim.

I disagree, TF2 has ample opportunity for solo play brilliance, and the fact it isn't balanced allows for greater skill to shine through.

Getting kills against clones of yourself shows you have greater skill than them, getting kills against a supposed anti class demonstrates even greater skill, or that's my opinion anyway.

Wouldn't.
There's kinda a reason the game is the way it is.
As for the class idea, I see what you mean with the assault class, but that's the solly basically. Having a class with a High-Powered accurate gun would be incredibly unbalanced, and the game would end up being CSS, and I for one don't want that.
What's wrong with TF2 maps? "Most" of them are designed incredibly well, with good styling and variety.
As for the tools thing, in terms of FPS games, TF2 is the most diversely armed game ever. Making the fights different is exactly what the game has already done. Instead of being about how is faster to the trigger you are, its about situations, classes and most importantly teamwork.

Only thing I would change would be the exclusion of some of the earlier, more skillful player based strategies that we're around before they made the game easier for everyone. Like the charging the uber at the beginning of the round. I personally would have rather not had the charge speed increased, so that people would infact have to "build" their uber in the beginning of the round. Or the removal of the RJ momentum for sollys. By the time I learned how to rocket jump and slam well, they had removed the momentum from it, so by large it was still useful, but I couldn't chain jumps and move really fast.

Just IMO.
