Changing my Sleep Schedule

So, I recently read a post about someone talking about the uberman sleep schedule and I started looking it up. I've heard of people doing before, but before getting into college it didn't really interest me, but now I'm thinking of trying it out. Unfortunately, my schedule doesn't allow for me to try out the uberman, so if I go through with it I'll be going straight to the dymaxion sleep schedule, 30-minute naps every 6 hours, although I might go with 40-minute naps. The biggest reason is that I frequently find myself working better with reduced sleep to begin with and find myself growing sleepy every 6 or so hours regardless of how much sleep I get every night.
So what do you guys think? Should I try it? I'll be keeping a log of my endeavor on here if I do.

Why not sleep as much as you can? I love sleeping but I don't get to do enough of it.

While I'm no expert I can tell you that there are biological mechanisms working against this type of sleep. Liek the circadian rhythm and that part of the brain that sends out checmicals when it gets dark outside.

I wish I didn't have to sleep as much. My gamerscore would be much higher.

I wouldn't suggest changing your sleep schedule without trying other alternatives if you're having trouble sleeping or staying awake during the day. Also, if you work better with reduced sleep, a change in sleep schedule will only give you reduced sleep until your body/brain gets used to the pattern.

Not enough time to sleep as much as I would like and I have terrible insomnia when it comes to the 8-hour at night monphasic sleep schedule.

It sounds good, but how I am supposed to go for a 30-min nap during work is beyond me.

Or you could do this:

It may have the tiny side affect of driving you insane, but still.

That's why I'm trying to match it up with my schedule in college. Once the summer comes around there's no way I'll be able to keep this kind of schedule, unless I want to take 40-50 minute naps every 8 hours.

If you're doing college correctly sleep will come naturally somewhere between beer 15 and 20. No need to time it.

40 minute naps aren't more effective tan 30s here, only a very very slight benefit. Your REM cycle will definately be off at most 30 minutes in, hence the 30 minute size. I'm biphasic, 5 hours in total. It's less efficient but so much easier to manage. Also, be prepared to set 4 weeks aside to adjust, this isn't a light commitment.
