Yeah, I remember playing that part...smearyllama said:John from Red Dead. Really touching, and one of the most symbolic deaths in gaming.
As he died, so did the spirit of the West.
Also, Emily from Deadly Premonition. That was such a bittersweet ending.
Yes, the Raincoat Killer was purged from the world, and York finally got to be with Emily, but in the end we lost two characters we'd come to love so much...

Agun Soric also made me feel a bit sad. I never found him compelling until he was turned into a sanctioned psyker, and was killed to spare his suffering. Things like this get to me.
That's like, the most famous character death in gaming.XxRyanxX said:snip
im not ashamed to say i cried when she diedXxRyanxX said:Not sure if anyone remembers, but in the early series of Final Fantasy VII (Which was Final Fantasy 7), Aerith was a very kind, gentle-hearted girl you can play alongside with during your adventure. I got attached to her and didn't really think anything could bad happen to her but-
<spoiler=Aerith's Death>While she seemed to be on top of an ancient platform with her hands cuffed like she was praying, Sephiroth came down and stabbed her in the chest, which she died slowly of course making it more dramatic
When I saw that, I just felt so sad inside like I wanted to do whatever I could to pervent that event. Though, it was very significant cause she died for the sake of Cloud to help him save the World and that's a huge deal to me.
Rest in Peace, Aerith..![]()

Thank you, I thought that was an amazingly done death. Jorge's and Noble One's were so heroic, or trying to be, Kat's death felt real, it had a weight to it. I actually thought Noble Six and Emile's deaths were well done also. They didn't have that self sacrificing, altruism to them, they felt like they were wild animals biting and clawing and struggling for their last bit of life. For those brief moments it felt like these masked super-soldiers were afraid to die, and that's something.Firefly131 said:It's probably cliched but I thought Noble Two's (kat) death was really great, it was one of the only games I know of to suddenly have a character shot mid sentence. It really brought the whole tone of the game down, it was almost up until that point you could save reach. Noble Six's attempt to drag the body into the lift is heart wrenching!
"People seem to like them. I'll keep writing until they don't anymore or, as I've said, until I've killed everybody-whichever is soonest."AccursedTheory said:/sobShockolate said:AccursedTheory said:When Try Again Bragg gets killed, it honestly tugged at my heart strings. I just pointed out my worse ones from the series.
I don't think Abnett will stop until its just Larkin and Gaunt fighting the hordes of Chaos back to back.
I keep seeing your posts and they are so close to my thoughts...I just HAVE To quote you. So yes, what s/he said. And I spent the time for the companion cube too. I even said a eulogy for him. That was a sad death, kind've.benzooka said:Not in games, but in books, TV series, books and so on, sure.
Oh, actually I purchased (with the Portal 2 pre-purchase) and played through Portal just yesterday. I probably spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how I could go around and not kill Companion Cube...
Ha. Well, it's always nice to bump into a kindred spirit.spartan1077 said:I keep seeing your posts and they are so close to my thoughts...I just HAVE To quote you. So yes, what s/he said.
