What is a leitmotif, do you ask? I'll tell you, my friend.

A leitmotif is a recurring piece of music, strongly associated with a certain area, theme or, specifically, a character. In plain English it is a character's theme song.

I've been doing some thinking about my favourite game characters, and most of them have one thing in common. That's right, they have a badass riff to go along with them. Anybody who's played Path of Radiance will understand why I loved the Black Knight upon seeing him for the first time. The music changed, to this slow, ominous, ponderous piece for this slow, ominous, ponderous character. From the very first second of his appearance, I KNEW he was going to be a recurring character, and a distinctly badass one at that. Leitmotifs are powerful things. If a character is a boss, then their boss battle theme will often be their leitmotif, or a variation thereof. Leitmotifs make everyone cooler.

So, Escapists, which character has the best Leitmotif? Which boss do you fight just for the music, which character is exemplified by their theme?

They're all over fighting games, most fighters have dozens of remixed versions of their themes.

Q's from Third Strike is very striking, sounds just like the mysterious android-man he is.

kefka's theme and Dancing mad. Kefkas them describes his character in every way from beginning to end, and does it without lyrics, and is so insane and cynical that you cant help but go a little crazy on inside.
