Lara Croft and, Nathan Drake. Nathan Drake murders his fellow man in pursuit of shining antiquities from days long past. Lara does the same thing only she also murders animals and sometimes monsters, also for shiny antiquities. I think Lara is the worse character though since she offers male game-players partial nudity if they help her murder her archaeological rivals. What's that Lara? you'll take off your top and swim around a bit if I help you blingify your house? Alright!
Yeah, I know there are 6 other games, but I was mocking all the ones that came after that had EXTREMELY unlikeable protagonists. I guess I shouldn't have said 'all', but whatever. I made a mistake on the internet and will therefore be crucified for it.Cridhe said:

In a more honest opinion, Waluigi. He's a gangly freak who wears purple, has a blue nose, and has no redeeming qualities of his very being. Now keep in mind that this is a Nintendo character, but when your existence has provided nothing of value outside of a party game you know you're a disgrace.
Say what you will about Tingle from Zelda, since I'll agree, but at least he had a purpose: he gave you maps, translated maps, and probably gave someone somewhere nightmare fuel.

What you want you character to be great all of the time and all knowing?
Tidus was perhaps the most realistic character I have seen Square done compared to the "we get everything right except the things we couldn't prevent"types we get now.

I would also have to say Bishop from Neverwinter Nights 2. Poorly writen evil character. I could rant on that issue all day. Really, don't get me started.

Hey, you know who has even less personality then Master Chief? Gordon Freeman. Seriously, tell me I'm wrong. In fact, Freeman and Master Chief are almost identical in every way(Power-armored badasses who become symbols of hope to a downtrodden human race while conquering an alien menace alongside a tomboyish female sidekick), except MC has more lines of dialog. Also, MC actually had a much more legitimate claim to the whole "symbol of hope" thing then Freeman did. See, Master Chief was the only soldier in a war for survival who could fight an incredibly powerful enemy effectively. It makes sense for people to rally around him.
Freeman, however, actually CAUSED the alien invasion in question, then disappeared for around 2 decades. Seriously, how did people even hear about him? He was nobody! Even ignoring that glaring plot hole, what exactly did he DO pre-dissapearance to garner all that faith? Spectacularly fail to save the Earth? Yeah, that sounds like a real symbol of hope to me! Anywho, that's it for me. I have to kick a beehive, poke a bear, and maybe play with some fire.
OT: I don't know, any female character from a Team Ninja game?

IMO, either Samus from Other M or Sonic.
The player character from Home Front for being to stupid to pick up grenades and throw them back, or to realize that an M-16 and M-4 both take the same kind of ammo ( and are practically the same gun, if I'm not mistaken).
Master Chief from Halo, and Marcus from Gears because they have like no character traits except for "Hero" and "Blood thirsty mother f**ker" respectively. And Duke Nukem. Yeah, he is supposed to be satirical, but whats his name from Bulletstorm was also, but he knew when to shut his damn mouth, while I want to hurl my controller into my television, and snap my Turtle Beaches in half every time Duke mutters one f**king syllable.
