Maybe They're just dated, or maybe you think they could be better. No matter the reason, there are characters in gaming that we think should and should not be changed. We all hear why not, usually some nostalgic reason that makes sense to a select few, so I'd like to hear about the ones that either need or deserve a design change. It doesn't have to be a massive about-face, but enough of one to at least be noteworthy.

First in my mind is Mega Man. Namely of the X and Legends variety. Call me naive, but aside from a few details such as the the red thing on X's helmet and that Legends Mega Man isn't a robot, it is essentially the same blue-on-blue armor seen since the original Mega Man games. Not much is nessisary, but it needs something.

Next would be, well, the general female populous of fighting games. Some don't need anything, such as Chun-li, Kitana, Jade, Mai, Sophitia, Cassandra, Taki, Shura, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head. Then there are the rest, first of which is Ivy. Now hear me out, Ivy is one of my better fighters (I'm horrid at fighters so take that for what you will) and her backstory is atleast intriguing. With that in mind, who the hell comes up with her attires? Her primary in SC1 works, but since SC2 her primary costume has been, as Yahtzee put it, an armored swimsuit, with her secondaries being marginally better. Say what you will, I think she should have something more suitable, LIKE the SC1 costume.

Link.

He needs a major overhaul to keep the franchise fresh. New characters, new creatures in the world, new items and new enemies.

I cant think of any characters in particular but there need to be more biker chicks. Like heavy jeans and leather jackets kinda dealey, dont ask me why but i think it'd be nice to see.

EDIT: Actually Mario could use one, no wait hear me out. I think the games would be a lot more visually pleasing If he were to wear the colour green. Its a much more pleasing colour than than red. Also the M on his hat? Its so ugly, the letter L is much more visually pleasing.

Come to think of it, i find it pretty unappealing that he's so short and squat. He'd be improved tenfold if he was taller

Dante it would be so much better if he had black hair for a start and look a bit more gangly.

I really not bothered but I dont know how you can say Ivy is wearing less than say Kitana she has also been slightly redesigned in each SC game including her movesets (quite drastically so usually) whether for good or worse is debatable ofc but she does wear a little more in SC5 if thats your problem.

Also some are quite covered up such as Makoto, Ibuki (SF4/3) yuri, king, mature (KoF XIII) Noel, Tsubaki, Taokaka (Blazblue) just off the top of my head so I wouldnt just create a label saying everybody else particularly when you name some of the most oversexualised ones as examples of not needing a redesign (which is fine) but then say Ivy does because shes wearing a swimsuit which is unsuitable? her SC1 costume covered more but its still not that suitable to be fair (a few extra patches of cloth wont make much difference when being punched kicked and stabbed) but then I have never had a problem with unrealistic happenings in fighting games.

I'll just name off one seeing how I am pretty sure the only redesigns I care about are for characters from games no one here considers actually worthwhile.

Liu Kang. Give him an eye patch a few burn scars on his face, the gruff stubble look, keep the red head band and long hair, give him a leather jacket, red sleeveless shirt (MK4 style) and traditional Liu Kang pants. And hello we now have a gruff cynical Thunder God hating Liu Kang for the next game.

When I look at Kitana, Jade, hell even Mileena, their costumes fit the bill. I just have never really cared for Ivy's costumes. For me, it's not "How much is there?", it's "Does it fit them?"

Also, I must admit that I don't have the best knowledge of fighters, so my list is from those I know, but there are usually at least one or two that, for whatever reason, just don't work. I'm not saying it's unsuitable, I'm saying it doesnt fit the character as I see fit.

Do grant me this, though. It's all in personal taste. There may be someone who loves Ivy's and hates the ones I like, or you like. Taste screws all opinions up, at least what I've seen anyways.

BTW, aren't they doing the gangly look for the DMC reboot?

Bring it on, only one game isn't worthwhile, and it's a racer.

How about Toad. Really, anything would be an improvement.

Thats fine so you say you find Ivys design off which I cant argue with if you do then you do but like you say it is all opinion there is no evidence to back up she is in dire need of a reboot/redesign in comparison to others.

Also yes they are doing the gangly look I was being ironic sorry it wasnt clear :) game looks good though from what little ive seen.

none of them, let all let bad/outdated characters die of, and the we should start to innovate, creating whole new characters and worlds to explore
