I'm going with Largo from Valkyria chronicles, most people just don't care about him.

Superman. Many people hate on him because he's "so powerful" and "boring" and because "Batman could beat him in a fight and Batman is just a normal guy and Batman Batman BATMAN" (seriously tired of everybody gushing over Batman too, by the way). And of course now, extreme right-wing douchebags hate him too because he renounced his US citizenship.

But I love the Man of Steel. He's not just a compelling character in his own right, but he's really the first, greatest, and most famous superhero ever. Superman has plenty of conflict, and his is unique in that he's just TOO powerful to the point where people simultaneously fear and rely on him at all times. He can't make a mistake, EVER, because when he does the consequences would most likely be deadly and the world would turn on him in an instant. Even with all of that weighing down on him, he cares deeply for humanity and never stops protecting them. Too many heroes are gritty, dark, angst-driven vigilantes; I'm glad to have an idealistic one like Superman to keep things in perspective. "Big blue Boy Scout" is a fucking compliment.

And also, because he's so powerful, when an even MORE powerful villain comes along, you know shit just got real.

Easily the best thing in GTA 4 (okay fine, the best fat, Serbian, compulsive lying thing in GTA 4) was Roman. He gets lots of hate for obvious reasons if you've ever played it
But to me he was much needed comic relief,
the series has taken a more realistic and harrowing turn from it's usual ridiculous mindless fun
and Roman was, to me, a reminder of how silly and warped the whole thing used to be
Sure, GTA 4 was still pretty good
but thats not really my point
my point is that I loved Roman

I didn't mind him during cut scenes and story-driven missions, it's just when he'd call up asking to go bowling or to dinner while I've got four wanted stars and half the LCPD (all I did was shoot a hooker in the face and run over a cop tying to arrest me) on my ass, then get pissy when I say no.

Brucie, on the other hand, had next to no redeemable qualities at all.

Actually, Desmond is not getting everything handed to him on a silver platter, at least not as of AC Brotherhood. If you read e-mails sent between the other teammates, they point out that Desmond has been screaming in his sleep a lot and there are other clues that Desmond may be loosing his grip on both the present and reality.

I agree with you on Superman. He's a great character. When every other superhero is fucked up and flawed in some way to give us the same old "see superheroes are just like you and me", Superman is a character everyone could aspire to. It's refreshing today. How many other comics explore in-depth characters that are essentially godlike?

What really made me realize that Superman still has such potential for stories today was Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman. Fucking great comic. Dare I say maybe the greatest comic put out in the last fifteen years.

I liked Shinji Ikari from Evangelion. He was supposed to be a normal 14-year-old with issues.

I also rather like Catelyn Stark from A Song of Ice and Fire. She seems to be one of the least favourite POV characters among people who've read the books (and I guess I understand peoples reasoning) but I think she's a good character.

My favourite comic character is Cable, he considered by some to be ultimate symbol for everything that's wrong with comics in the 90's. It's strange that even now with thousands of comics under my belt, being able to discuss great works like Sandman and The Invisibles in depth, he's still my favourite.

It's stems from when I was a kid, he was my favourite character after I saw him on the animated X-men series, I then obtained a dozen or so miss-matched Cable issues and read and re-read them over and over again. Later on I forgot about him and comics and years later I got a chance to read Cable & Deadpool by Fabian Niceza and was instantly hooked. Here was a genuinely mature yet funny update to an old favourite. That basically got me into Marvel comics again which inevitably lead to me loving comics.

The key reason I like the character is that theres not a lot of gruff older heroes in comics, most comic characters are teens (which I've outgrown) or college aged (soon to outgrow). They're also overly melodramatic. But here is this soldier first, super hero second, whose buried two wives and a son, seen countless genocides in the future and briefly wielded the power of a god. He will never give up, he'll fight with everything he can, be it telekinesis/telepathy, a huge gun, a knife or even his fists.

Ashley Williams, I just love the fact that they made her in a genuine tough girl charcacter, without changing her into an Ice Queen. She als has the second-best line in the series:
"Just because I can drill you between the eyes at a hundred meters doesn't mean I can't like sensitive stuff." (I think you can guess the best one).
