I use Joe Larmin and Octagon Jones for games that require first and last names (usually sports games). For Shin Megami Tensei games, I go with Abara Kedabara, since it's punny and saves me from having to think of a real Japanese name. I've sporadically used Nina Niiner and Frannie Faceface for female characters when I'm feeling particularly silly.

A long time ago, when playing KOTOR II, the game gave my character a generated name, Dace Jacus, and I liked it so much I started using it fairly often. I'll try to come up with original names most of the time, but when I'm not in the mood, Dace it is. It just sort of goes with everything, be it sci-fi, high fantasy or even modern times.

But I more often use "Oblivion" or "Oblivion Doll" if I have enough characters.

It was funny when I first bought Oblivion and was halfway through entering my name when my girlfriend commented "You're not really calling yourself that, are you?"

"Ooops." Delete, replace with Garrett.

Mine has always been Sgt_Jakeman online in the many forums I have been attached to. However, with the rise of FPS gaming and the abuse of the US Military rank structure as a skill based ranking system, I have added a unique number onto the end. To many people fancy themselves as sergeants, whilst that was my actual rank in Australian Air Force Cadets. The number on the end also happens to be my squadron number.

In games where a character limit is enforced I use Aragorn or Gandalf for male characters and Marigold for female characters.

Makes for very funny moments in shooters when you have to hold a section of space for a time, screaming at the little onscreen mooks "YOU SHALL NOT PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSS!!!!"

I tend to stick with Blank...I dunno, ever since seeing the name on Final Fantasy IX, I've grown mightily attached to it. Although I do change it if I have multiple playthroughs. Other names I've used often are Lan and Caile. Cookie for references.

My friend and I always use the name Captain Kum-Squat for comedy/fuck-about playthorughs of games.
