You have to laugh at BK's latest attempt to make everybody hate him. Well done dude, your games are popular. Know why, because they're fun and FREE. But now Kotick's all "ooh, profits!"
"We?ve heard that 60 per cent of Microsoft?s subscribers are principally on Live because of Call of Duty. We don?t really participate financially in that income stream. We would really like to be able to provide much more value to those millions of players playing on Live, but it?s not our network."
I mean, seriously. I don't think anyone is safe from the effects of this ~recession, not even on the internet. I get that there's a big profit possibility there and as a business man Kotick should tap into it, but I still reserve the right to be pissed, as a gamer, that I might have to pay up for something i'm getting free now. It doesn't feel fair.
On the other hand it's interesting in that it looks like the search for profit is going to drive BK to stir things up even harder. This is actually mildly exciting: "If we are going to broaden our audiences, we are going to need to have other devices". I'm all for progression and innovation, or whatever. Just not a huge fan of the price tag.
