Ok, so as you may know, Tonight the last episode of Chaser's War on Everything aired (if you don't who they are there are some links below). Any thoughts about the show.

Now, as much as I they had a good run, two episodes were canceled after the Make a wish sketch and there were quite a few calls to ban the show altogether. I'm wondering what happened to the world that so much appeasement is directed towards those that cannot take a joke.

It is sad that one of the most intelligent Australian shows on television has 1/5th of its 3rd season canceled and possibly its decision to only do 10 episodes because of loud letter writers.

Do you think that government funded organisations should try to censer comedy when all the other stations definitely will. Also, what did you think about the show and Chaser's in general.

I love the Chaser and I always will, it's crafty in your face humour was something our country needed and to this day the fact that they would rather pack it in then sell out is something to support. I will miss it greatly but it will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

They brought that show to the states thanks to G4, and it was pretty awsome, like Jackass, only in Austrailia, but with smarter humor.

It sucks that such tight-ass people are in power.

I used to like the first season and some of the 2nd season however i felt that they got to popular and it brought the quality of the show down...

I love the chasers and always will, I've bought every episode avaliable at the moment and I'm going to do the same if they release anymore. The one thing that got me into the chasers was one sket called the woggit.

"Hey take those sexy dices off the ring bro."

"Nah, it's fully sick bro."

*Holds up hand with Ring and big fluffy dice on it*

That scene made me nearly piss myself

I blame the APEC skit. It got a lot of attention which lead to people who don't find the Chaser funny watching it which lead to the show cutting down so that they would not offend the people that watch it. They did offend though, with the make a realistic wish foundation skit, which lead to them to packing it up. That and now that everyone knows who they are they can't do as many skits in Australia, security guards and what have you know to stop them, politicians know how to act around them and around 1/4 of people would not go a long with the stunt, stopping it from being funny. So they had to move onto skits and stuff in other countries which is not as funny.

Speaking of other countries, what happened to Charles Firth? He was completely absent from this series.

EDIT: Just read the Wiki page. Nevermid.

Never heard of it till now, though after watching a few, I want to watch more.
On another note, I see how some people might be offended by the Make a Realistic Wish Foundation, but in my opinion, that skit was hilarious made me burst out laughing.

I love 'em dearly, funny funny stuff, although sometimes the stuff they do can be slighty offensive, and I even mute it at stages to try and stop watching

But they'll be back, they started with CNNNNNN(N?) which was a news style program (quite funny, rather), and this is more a Current Affairs type show. Who knows what they'll do next, but I'll watch it. And it'll be funny stuff.

But it was it's time to die, any longer and it probably would have become a little stale, and they would end up just offending, not entertaining.
So I guess it was for the best...

Annoying that many shows, particularly those that started on the ABC, went down this same road. They where good, witty and powerful shows then they got popular, picked up by a 'major' TV channel only to become something not really worthy of watching. I say 'major' as Australia doesn't have much in mainstream TV media.

I'm going to miss the show so much. I've loved the Chaser boy's work ever since I first found The Chaser's First Annual in my local bookshop (They started off as a parody newspaper, similar to the Onion).

CNNNN (Chaser Non-Stop Nightly News Network) is my favourite of their work. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour and order it from the ABC's webstore (Australian Broadcasting Network). You'll crap your dacks laughing.

To make a side note about the "Make A Realistic Wish" skit, they did a very similar one as an advert for ficitional burger joint Fungry's that aired during CNNNN. I gotta say, my love for my home country died quite a bit after I saw the over-the-top reaction from the pansy crybaby brigade.

To think we used to call the poms whingers.

I never watched all that much but I was given two seasons as a birthday gift. After about 5 episodes I put it down as undergraduate political humour and never felt the desire to watch it again. The only skits I remember of theirs were all about viciously mocking other people. So I'm not all that sad they're gone.
(I snickered at the concept of Make-a-Realistic-Wish, but if those guys didn't realise what they were getting into they really were as ignorant as I thought they were.)

At least I'm fairly sure the chaser boys won't change to another channel. They'd be the biggest hypocrites if they did. You're right though, Kath and Kim was completely rubbish after it moved channels.

it was good while it lasted but I inda knew it would never last. In truth I'm surprised it was still on air after the APAC Fiasco

I reckon the government should be thankful for this one, It was better for the "harmless" Chaser team to breach red zone and expose security flaws than run the risk of others getting in so easily.

They did some funny, funny stuff. I do think they went a bit to far with the make a realistic wish skit, but they apologized so we should have just moved on. Its a sad, sad day for Australian television.

And the APEC thing, I'd put money on the police letting them in, than realised what a blunder they made and claimed incompetence instead of admitting so. fuckin hilarious
