Okay, basically I just want to get into PC gaming, I bought the Garry's mod/Team Fortress 2 bundle off of Steam, and because I have an Intel I can't run source games, apparentley. I just want some advice on what to do to be able to run most games, not really the likes of Crysis and Farcry but just games the quality of Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 etc.

Anyway, i've been looking around for a decent card to replace my intel, and it needs to be relatively cheap, (I'm like 14 with no money) so I will present this to you and ask, is this good enough?

Let me know if I need to update anything else, thanks!

Windows XP
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz
2.98 GB of RAM
DirectX 9.0

Also, if it helps, my birthday is not that far away, July 29th.

Something like this should be ok, it's a NVIDIA 9500GT (i had a 1GB version and it was very good, could run crysis rather well too, so half life and such will be no problem):

All you have to do is make sure you have a spare PCI-E slot.

I know nothing about installing new hardware, so I don't really know what a PCI-E slot is, so I'll have to learn about that, but thanks for the suggestions!

As for learning about hardware, I bet Youtube has millions of videos on that :)

also make sure the rest of your computer can handle your games though, might be you need more than just a video card
