What cheap tactics do other people (or you) use that piss you (or other people) off in multiplayer? I can't stand the shield bash trick in Pirates Vikings and Knights II. It allows you to block attacks, daze an opponent and deliver a powerful fully charged attack in a split second. If anyone is using that tactic, I just run away and try to harass them at range. It pisses me off to no end.

I'll be the first to say camping. Good, now that we have that out of the way, we can move on.

What really pisses me off is hacking. It doesn't even give you a chance.

Also, MW2 riot sheild camping.

Let's see... Using Final Vengeance/Iron Halo online on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is a bit of a douche tactic.

The former especially if you have Death From Above equipped too, because you can jetpack into the air, slam down in the middle of a few enemies, die, and then kill at least one of them.

The latter if you're sitting in a corner, deploying your heavy bolter and you have pretty much any kind of weapon enhancement perk.

Blowing up friendly vehicles to get teammates raging is classic.

Hacking, Glitching, Camping, N00b tubing, riot shield camping, claymore stacking, n00b bashing, statpadding and many more are cheap tactics that result in easy wins for lazy basement dwellers

I hate when people complain about "cheap" tactics. If it's in the game, some people are gonna use it. And so what if they do?

If they keep killing you using a cheap tactic, why not give them the taste of their own medicine? E.g. if they keep killing you with the noobtube, why not get one of your own and get revenge? Oh, because you are using tactics which are "skillful" which entitles you to some sort of high ground.

I ditched this sort of attitude very quickly when playing multiplayer games. It's just going to get you mad and raging, rather then enjoying the game. I play as a sniper in most games, but if I get noobtubed I just laugh most of the time. I'm pretty good with a sniper, so in a game with one-shot kills like CoD4 I'd say sniping is pretty cheap. You just point at stuff which you want dead, and it dies. Try going around a large map like Overgrown with just a noobtube and see how well you do. Maybe these people do have skill. What people use is their personal preference. I don't think a player is any more nooby for using a noobtube than for using a sniper, or a shotgun etc.

I agree that hacking is very annoying, but I wouldn't really call that a tactic.

In my opinion, "cheap" tactics do not exist. Abusable tactics, yes, but nothing cheap. The only i consider "cheap" is when something is done completely outside the intended boundaries of the game. Hacking, aimbotting, and glitching to the point of breaking the game is cheap.

In Dawn of War, if you plan Necron and the enemy plays Eldar, you might as well quit. Eldar building units can lock down any unit producing building for 30 seconds. The Necron have one building which produces units. It's pathetically broken. That's before you play a game of Hunt the Webway.

Pathfinding in Empire Earth could be ridiculously abused. It allowed units to move through forests. Place one villager in the woods beyond the reach of the enemies. Step away from the computer, and come back an hour or so later to see that your opponent has disconnected.

All those issues are so easily dealt with, guessing you dont play much.

I was playing Rome Total War yesterday and despite me clearly stating in the rules no Praetorians, the enemy had at least 8 Praetorian cav as his entire army. I picked a barbarian faction because they are funner to play with and the results are easy to figure out. Tis the only time I ever rage quit.

Very little is cheap in my mind, hacking and camping are the only things I can think of.

Every else is just competition, one of the things that annoys me the most is when scrubs start whinging that they're loosing as other people are out playing them, saying somethings "cheap" when in truth they just suck.

Its rare that something has been put into an MP game that cant be countered or dealt with, whilst it may not seem apparent at 1st I can almost guarantee that as long as the developer hasnt taken leave of their senses there is always a counter ot everything.

Basically this. And to add to this, I'd also say that a HUGE portion of the time the "Cheap tactic" that a person hates are typically just things that they happen to get killed by a lot, and not necessarily a community problem.

I only started the day before yesterday.

I generally sort it out by just stealing their class and doing the exact same thing until they bugger off or the game ends.

Mostly I seem to be better than they are at it, but I feel dirty afterwards.

I agree with this, I have skills and I love tubing, it is great crowd control and great at clearing out hiding places. Not to mention it pisses people off, so every time someone bitches about me tubing, the rest of the game is spent hunting them down and tubing them over and over till they leave or quit bitching. I also love to camp, especially when people keep trying to attack me from the same direction and no one thinks to sneak up behind me.

It depends on if it is really cheap or not. It's not a cheap tactic to put a claymore facing a door but if there is a game exploit that is being abused then it is cheap to use it.

Like If they bought a card game (magic the gathering or something) and there was a card that was obviously more powerful than other ones and that guy had a deck full of that one card, that would be a cheap tactic. (I don't play card games so I have no idea about rules and such)

Like quick scoping is running round with a rifle that usually kills in 1 bullet, no matter the range. Thanks to perks, you can aim quicker than other people (slight of hand pro, I think lets ADS quicker) and kill people quicker and through objects they can't see through (stopping power).

It is also abusing aim assist by bending bullets or homing in on people. I have seen clips of bullets killing people when there cross hairs were not over there target.

You can say "but it is fair 'cos anybody could do that" well true but how boring is that? There is only one way to play the game and any other way just results in you getting massacred. The game designers gave you all these options with perks, guns, equipment etc and you can't use any of it 'cos your at the mercy of this one tactic.

Nobody has fun getting owned constantly in a game.

While using cheap tactics like camping and over powered weapons annoys me(though to be honest I rarely play games where its a problem) I blame developers more than the player because they are the ones that made it possible.

Try running C4. It really puts cocky riot-shield users in their place.

Or the sticky semtex grenades, I found that to be quite effective too if you have a riot-shield user bearing down on you.

My main complaint would have to be the people on Street Fighter 4 who will pick a character with an incredibly cheap move, for example Blanka or Zangief and using that move over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

I camp all the time and go on knifing sprees. Sorry to others in the game but

My enjoyment > yours.

That and when kids rage I love pointing out their flawed arguments.

What is everyone's problem with camping? Play games where camping is not a tactic that is rewarded. I PREFER the other team to camp because that is only helping my team win. Any well designed objective mode will cause camping to be a detriment to winning. Hell, even plain team deathmatch, camping is a detriment, the camping team allows the other team to dominate strategic map spots because they camp and don't even try to contend for those key spots. If you camp in MAG or Metal Gear Online, you are playing the game wrong and you are only hurting your own team.

The only tactics I don't like are unbalanced ones, which IMO are cheap tactics because there isn't a counter tactic outside of using said cheap tactic to counter itself. I just plain choose not to play games with cheap tactics, it's really that simple. I can count on 1 hand the number of actually good competitive online games there have been this gen. Everyone wants online multiplayer nowadays but most games have crap multiplayer.
