So which boss battles piss you off the most, due to the boss using cheap/dirty tricks and tatics?
Also, the last boss from Gun, who was apparently impervious to arrows, knives, bullets, fire and explosions. He also wields a shotgun that can kill you in two hits, and the battle takes place in a small cavern so you have nowhere to run. After several hours of trying, I gave up on the game after failing to put even a dent in his health bar.
Beating him is worth It, you get the shotgun as well as an explosive version, I've beat him twice now, once on PS2 then PSP, all I can say Is keep trying, watch a walkthrough maybe. The conclusion to the story Is nice. I wish I could give you tips but It's been so long since I've played. But to get the full effect from the guns keep a few sidequests around, or go on a town slaughter on PS2.

Another vote to Jinpachi.

Also, Kreissack from One Must Fall: 2097.

Every other character has balanced Strength, Agility and Endurance stats, Kreissack has them all maxed out.

He pilots the Nova.

Only bot with an unblockable attack. Called Earthquake Smash, he hits the ground, and if you're not airborne when he does, you fall over and take massive damage. It's his weakest attack, and against several characters, three hits from it will KO them.

And for my flatmate's sake, I have to mention Kingdom Hearts 2. Sephiroth, because, well, he's Sephiroth. He's a sidequest battle which requires a higher level than the final boss fight.

Also, the final boss in that game pulls a rather cheap move when you're about to win. It's the only time the game throws in a new function without pausing until you're ready and fullscreen tutorial. And if you don't work it out in under a minute (this is assuming you're at max level and just healed yourself, it can be over in SECONDS otherwise), you lose. And reset to about 5 or 10 mins of fighting earlier (again depending on your level). And the literally half-hour long buildup is without save points, so if you ragequit, you have to go through it all over again.

Prototype's final boss isn't totally ridiculous, but deserves mention, specifically on hard. Having to do the amount of damage it requires in the time limit before you automatically lose is pretty harsh. As is resetting you to the very start of the fight if you fail. Also, he's mostly just a rehash of a previous boss fight, which was kind of cheap in the other sense of the word.

There is one boss that sticks out in my mind, from a long forgotten game known as Dead or Alive 4. After going through the entire arcade mode, smashing numerous faces in and being an absolute powerhouse, you meet your greatest fear:

Her.

Alpha 152.......Fuck you.

[sub]Hey, I was a poet and didn't know it! Who would've thought?!?[/sub]
The designer agrees with you. [http://kotaku.com/5604144/guy-who-makes-hard-games-would-like-to-apologize]

For me, it's Azazel from Tekken 6, but only in Arcade mode.

In Scenario Campaign mode, it's Alisa. Damn bint keeps healing herself and dodging your attacks, meaning that it is more than likely you time out before she dies.

This makes her fight the first (of two) battles where the timer is actually a problem.

Azazel's a lot easier in Scenario Campaign mode because you've got a team-mate, he's not immune to your ice/electricity/flame elemental powers, you'll hit harder, take less damage and/or have more health.

In Arcade mode, I've got a W-L ratio against Azazel of about 7-50. In Scenario Campaign, it's 2-1. And the 1 loss was only because his imp-minions before the battle took my health down to incredibly low levels before I fought Azazel.

I had it on the PS2 about two and a half years ago, and I've been through two PS2s since then before finally giving up and buying an xbox 360, so I can hardly go back and try again from my save point :p. However, I've been considering renting a 360 copy, but I'm not sure if I can be bothered to play through it all again.

I do actually know how to beat him now, but at the time I had no internet access, so I couldnt look it up. I just wish the game had given some kind of hint instead of throwing you into a room with a shotgun wielding, dynamite throwing bastard.

Heh I just remembered another one. Uncharted 2.

The last boss, I forget his name, the mecenary guy. On the hardest difficulty with his amazing homing triple granade throw and shotgun ownage just made me wanna break something. Took me the better part of 3 hours to beat that bastard. Not freaking fun!

heh odd, cuz I didnt find Demons souls that Hard. Unforgiving, but not in a "I WANNA KILL" kind of way. If I died I was because I made a mistake.

1-2 tries to figure the tactics, then boom next boss please. Think of it as the original Super Mario Bros. Die near the end? Too bad, start over. Noone complained back then. I wonder when that started.... (yes I realize I have whined a bit in this thead myself)
