Cheat Backfire

So! A couple of days ago i was playing L4D. Playing Survival on the crane level of Dead Air.
Being lazy we used a glitch... By sitting on the ledge behind the crane nothing Special
could get us. After 9 minutes of sitting near the building corner and shooting the mindless zombies for the main reason of not dying of boredom, Louis got a bit away from the group. As a result getting his ass pounced by a hunter.
Any L4D player knows that if you're near a person that gets pounced you're going to loose your balance and back up a bit. Well, guess what? We ALL lost our balance and backed up out of the ledge. Louis being pounced and us hanging over the ledge, we lost the gold by 20 seconds.

And that was our punishment for trying to cheat.
So have you ever been punished for cheating?
(sorry if this has been done before.)

Head Over Heels (a commodore 64 game)

I'd typed in a whole program (using C64 BASIC), and then started the game (you oldies will know what a mean). The program gave me invincibility for my characters.

There was one room, whereby if you fell, you fell onto a floor which killed you. However because I was unkillable, I just fell to the floor, and was unable to jump back to a platform and progress...it was a game-ending moment.

as far as i remember it was the cheat code from the first game. there was cheats for descent 2 as well i think.

I have never cheated or used in game exploits competitivley, granted I cheated on my PS2, but I really don't see the point. If your gonna do it, do it right. It's so sad that people cheat to get achievements I actually pity them and how sad their life must be if they have to do that for kicks

I used a cheat code for Project Eden (PC/PS2) for invincibility. And like PacDwell (above, post #2) there where a lot of places that if you fell, you was supposed to die, but because I was invincible, I didn't die. I then had to turn off the cheat, and use another character to kill me. Very annoying

I cheated on quake 4 for 360 to complete the game on its hardest difficulty. I got to the end and wondered why i hadn't gotten my acievements. It was from cheating. Now, i only cheat on games where you're meant to like GTA and Saints Row.


Also, its not cheating. Its using you're initiative (spelling?)

Tried to cheta in Madden 05' by having the home team get the ball every time he scores.All it did was make the other team score for me,it was stupid and pointless.

I cheated once in X3 for tons of cash to get the best ships and pimp them out. Completely ruined the game for myself cause I had nothing to work towards. Got bored and uninstalled it in shame.

Using a glitch in Morrowind I spawned 30 Golden Saints, to help me overcome a hoard of enemies. I accidently hit one of them with a spell and all of them turned on me, hacking me to pieces.

Same here but with those dremoras. Another time I did that it froze my game and when I tried turning it back on, it said that my file was corrupt. =( I was only able to play it on the Xbox so you can see how frustrating that was.

Age of empires had a decent system for this. Instabuild cheat effects the AI as well. You might get that wonder up a little earlier but then you get zerged by legionaries that spawn several times faster then you can press the build button.

In Tomb Raider there is a certain sequence of moves you can perform to instantly be given all the weapons and ammo in the game. If you use this cheat in Tomb Raider 2, Lara explodes. It scared the shit out of me the first time I did it.

Well, the original pokemon games were notorious for their exploits 'n the dangers involved.

Starcraft was my first RTS online. At that time, I didn't know that cheats won't work in a multiplayer match.

Everyone yelled: CHEATER!!!! I got zerged and killed in a few seconds.

EVERYONE has cheated at least once in their lives. I'd rather play a game in a legit way but we are all without an exception guilty as charged with the "crime"

I used to use game genie back in the day.
Those codes where fun. When they worked though.
Some didn't and sometimes a game wouldn't play for certain ones.

I can't remember which game it was, (Gradius 3, I think) but if you did the cheat once, everything was fine.

If you had the gall to do it a second time, you'd die instantly. XD.

gta 3, infinite health and ammo, and then i put my wanted level up to 6 stars, 3 seconds later, a police car spawns on me, push's me into the ground so i have to reload, upon the reload my power cuts and corrupts my save

good times, i'm actually considering using cheats again for a bit of fun, but that would break my 5 year clean record
