Cheating on exams

Ok, so my final senior exams are coming. There's months till the first one.
The thing the bothers me is that most of my classmates are planning to cheat. And they are only relying on cheating to pass. They have proven to be capable of learning and passing an exam 4 years ago, when they needed over 87% to get into my(their too) High school.
They are planning to cheat because they are lazy to learn(we've still got exactly 31 days till the first test).
I just don't get them.
+ If they get caught they fail, and have to take the exams again next year(and repeat the entire last high school year), and they won't be able to get into College(and trust me every one of these guys wants to go to College)
What's even more insane is that this one guy, the top student of the school, who is planning to go to Oxford University(to get in, he only needs to pass these final exams, he already has a scholarship and everything), is thinking about cheating, too. I mean should he be caught he'll lose everything! How can he be so stupid to even consider cheating?!

Now for the discussion: What are your thoughts on cheating at exams(not quizzes or test, but once-in-your-life, need-to-pass exams)?

Cheating is a choice. It may not be a smart one but the risk of being caught often outweighed by the chance to get a guaranteed pass. I think it's silly but then again I'd probably consider doing it if I ccould get away with it. Its their choice to cheat, don't worry yourself about it.

While I don't agree with cheating in general no matter what you're talking about (Test, games, or anything else), I can't say that I haven't done it myself. In fact, my last semester of college, I cheated on my final exam. I only saw two answers and only used one, but the fact remains that I did. But then again, I didn't go in planning on cheating and I didn't do so just to pass the class (I had over 100% in the class already).

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that cheating is bad, but I doubt many can say they've never cheated on anything in their lives, big or small.

I usually get immediate test anxiety on exams, and even when I have a B or above in the overall grade, I'll go blank, and forget everything, and fail the exam enough to bring the grade down to a D and fail (D's are failing grades now. It's weird.)

I had that problem for the first few years I tried college classes, and really wished I could have cheated, just to pass, since I proved i knew everything and could pass. This Spring I took some classes and did just fine, without that problem.

I say, if the person can pass everything else on their own with good grades, then cheating on the final to make sure they don't fuck up like that is okay, but not right in the normal sense (cheating is still cheating).

I have never cheated on an exam. I have looked at other students' papers, but, perhaps oddly, it is always merely to measure my progress in the exam relative to the class and make sure that I'm not falling behind.

Unless that is viewed as cheating, in which case, I suppose I have.

I think everyone does that to see how much the people around them are writing. You can't actually see what they've put on their paper, because they are too ar away/at a stupid angle, so you can't opy their answers. It's more like using them as a moving clock.

Why on earth would they cheat with 31 days still to go? That's just plain retarded.

How exactly are they planning on accomplishing this? The 3 exams I've been to over the last month have all been very stringent on making sure there's no way you can cheat. Chances are they will get caught and disqualified. If they do then that's their problem and if they have a month left to revise and yet still chose to cheat then they deserve to get caught.

I'm doing my finals and I haven't had any where near as much time to revise for mine as I've had a ton of coursework and a final year project to get in. Makes me sick to be honest.

Well I'm a firm beliver in "By any Means nesscary" But even I have limits to what I'll do.

But funny Story; In high school all of the JROTC guys learned morse code so they would tap there pencils and "send" each other answers. And the teahers didn't even know because they did it so softly and had "Cheat Practice" after school.

Madness I say, MADNESS!
