Its a cosmo article, dunno what one would expect. Being offended by it is like being offended by equivalent articles in lads mags (granted its been a long while since i read one but surely mens health and similar should still be the same).

Cosmo started out as a family magazine in the late 19th century and has gone through a lot of changes throughout its existence. I mean, did you know that at one point it was a literary magazine that published stories from authors like Jack London and Rudyard Kipling?

How i miss the days where the majority of men were like al bundy or homer simpson and we were proud. The guy was just referring to Homer Simpson and Al Bundy, an almost literal baboon and a guy who can't even successfully make love to his wife, as positive figures. I'm not sure Clarkson being called a baboon is a downside. Nor that he's being at all serious. But still.

Im glad you noticed that... i thought for a minute i was going to have to explain that i wasnt being entirely serious. I was exaggerating but its true that men are becoming a lot less "manly" be it a good or a bad thing personally I can see the positives and the negatives

sadly its also cosmo the, are we to assume former, standard bearer of "third-wave" feminism...
many post "third wave" supposedly "feminist" attitudes towards men don't seem very nice. my mum actually stopped attending local and national feminist groups due to all the man hating and belittling that went on basically "because i have sons" and in her opinion they were waaaay out of line in their open indulgence of hate speech and sexism...and she told them that before she walked...which i would love to have seen tbh.

That is hi-la-ri-ous. I now have visions of a double agent kind of writer, furtively writing in ladies magazines about how to control and manipulate his gender, before writing a counter article in the lads mags, all to keep the gender war in a precarious balance for...reasons.
These people are the guardians of the sex wars, intervening so no side is able to understand the other, enforcing eternal strife and mistrust amongst the genders.

This is the magazine that says that it's a good idea to burn all of your boyfriend's stuff in the backyard if you even suspect him of cheating on you. How do you know he's cheating on you? Because he's paying more attention to you, duuh!

Cracked has more of a realistic relationship advice and you should know, Cracked is the kind of magazine that bases its humour on mostly dick jokes and lists.

As completely stupid and probably satirical as this article is, it did get me thinking:
If we can simply dismiss this as being satire and dumb and meant to entertain and not to be taken seriously, can't we dismiss any articles from FHM, Maxim, Nuts, and all other "Lad's mags" (love that term) that someone claims are misogynist, sexist, etc. as simply being satire, entertainment, and not to be taken seriously?

I was gonna post the same, but seeing as you did, I now have no reason whatsoever to post anything here. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY!

Oh, and Cosmo just makes shit up. If they think it'll sell some magazines, they'll slap it in there.

On the one hand, the article is utterly meaningless for a host of reasons. On the other hand, it represents sexism of the first order: not only does it make sweeping generalizations of all men (based, one would think, off encounters with a relatively limited subset of men of a single cultural background), they are broadly negative. That it wraps it all in the guise of what I'm just going to call the Vaginal Burden as some sort of sacred duty is the ultimate icing on the cake.

As a result, I am forced to come to a conclusion: it's a parody. Until I find a copy of that magazine and look for myself, I refuse to accept that this was pitched, written, edited, and distributed simply because you would be hard pressed to find a more egregious example of sexism in a written work in recent memory.
