So he's got something bigger than the Supreme Court to appeal to?
So, going by the Kai hierarchy set by DBZ, he's going to have to release a perverted old court from a sword or somehow fuse the Supreme Court with its bodyguard, thus creating KibitoCourt. Well that's two of his options. Maybe the Grand Court?
I wouldn't be surprised if we appealed to the Queen of Britain to repeal the independence of America just so he could have brand new to courts to appeal madly too.

I can't help thinking that Jack Thompson is computer gamings answer to Pat Pulling - both very driven but ultimately misguided people who develop a bitter vendetta with forms of entertainment. (In Pullings case it was her son's death, which she blamed on a curse being placed on him in a game of D&D.)

What happened in Thompsons past to make him hate games so?

Well, I guess that's a little more plausible than using the Dragon Balls.

I'm so glad the gaming industry finally did what every other American industry does and hired lobbyists. I mean, Jack Thompson was always going to be marginalized (he's completely pants) but at least the industry isn't getting harassed by the politicians anymore.

One of the reasons I stay at this site is for this kind of reporting, I haven't on any other gaming site read anything of this depth or with this much research about JT. I am pretty amazed and pleased to hear about the Huntsman guy who vetoed this bill, he seems to be one of the first politicians looking at this smartly and not being sucked into the child-danger issues. Not to say that they aren't valid issues, but they are blown far out of proportion, especially by good ol' Jack, so to see him actually consider what the bill would cause is, to me, fantastic.

Jack really needs to get a World of Warcraft account so that he can occupy his time with something more useful.

Dear God,

I know I've not being that good a follower. I'm not even truly convinced you exist, truth be told. But if you do exist, and happened to have a little, tiny bit of spare time, can you put some sanity into Jack Thompson?

Thank you Lord, in advance.
I am sorry, my child.
Not even I have that kind of power. The universe has a set way of working, you see...
But Jack Thompson is a rebel in his own way.

Also, when I created him, I was drinking absinthe.
That shit is strong, man.

Almost Always Sometimes There,
-God

(p.s. pornographic: I do not think it means what he thinks it means.)
God damnit! Oh, sorry.

Also, when I created him, I was drinking absinthe.
This would explain a hell of a lot!

(p.s. pornographic: I do not think it means what he thinks it means.)
Indeed. Unless he thinks, for example, Gears of war contain alot of naked pictures (*cough-Marcus-cough*)!

Ultra burn.

"in his 2008 bar trial it was revealed that Thompson sent so many faxes to Alabama Judge James Moore in 2005 that it actually broke the poor man's fax machine."
Bwahahhaha!
Great article, hopefully one day Jack will die.
The question is when he will die.

I created language for it to be used. Curse all you want!
Similarly, I created weapons for the purpose of killin'. Get to that.

Anyway, yeah, my bad. I don't drink no more.

(I would not get the Gears of War joke as I do not play it, but isn't he the "I miss my wife" guy?)
Wait, are you sure I should just start shooting people God? It seems alittle...odd.

As for the joke, I was more referring to the ... well, homoerotic vibe alot of people get from the pair (and no, the other one is the 'WHERES MY WIFE' one)

I dont get whats so bad about the bill he is trying to pass, isnt it already an offence to sell games to people too young to own them?
Others have already explained why Thompson's Utah bill was so entirely wrong-headed but it's also worth noting that it is not an offense to sell M-rated games to minors in the US. I'm assuming from the way you spell "offence" you're from the UK (or possibly one of the less-Americanized bastions of Canada) so here's a quick crash course in why games have not, and cannot, be legislated in the US:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/the-needles/5491-A-Crash-Course-in-ESRB

Short answer is this: Like books, movies and music, videogames are protected speech and their sale thus cannot be impeded.

That, indirectly, (and making this into a slightly longer short answer) explains why Thompson is constantly referring to games as "pornographic," because T&A is the exception to the rule and cannot legally be sold to minors. If Thompson could have violence defined as pornographic, then violent games would fall into the same exceptional class as porn and, like porn, be restricted. So far, nobody's going for it.
