Right, I'm Rob, internet dickhead.

I'm sure a few of you know of me, anyway. I'm having a major crisis here, involving me realising, two years in, that my current choice of Degree and University was the wrong one. And I found an old letter from someone I no longer have. I'm down. This is not happy thinking.

I require cheering up.... yet also realise that a "Cheer up this miserable git" thread would also come in useful for anyone else out there feeling like crap.

So post away your stories of happy times, your amusing pictures of cats, whatever you think could cheer up a stressed Limey weirdo, or anybody else who happens to be a bit down right now.

Thanks, people of the internet. We need a glorious thread to soak our troubles away.
With lolcats and bad jokes.

I like to read the Tao Te Ching when I'm in a bad place. I find its message of having nothing and having nothing to lose helps me to refocus my perspective, center myself, and realize that as bad as things may seem now and again, it's just a story, and in the end, it's okay.

The master gives himself up
to whatever the moment brings.
He knows that he is going to die,
and he has nothing left to hold on to:
no illusions in his mind,
no resistances in his body.
He doesn't think about his actions;
they flow from the core of his being.
He holds nothing back from life;
therefore he is ready for death,
as a man is ready for sleep
after a good day's work.
Maybe that may not seem like the most cheerful message, but I feel that it helps one see through the ups and downs of a life lived on the day to day. To say that there is nothing good, and nothing bad, all things simply are; "free from the desire, you realize the mystery." That mystery is beautiful, perfect, and in seeing it, one is free from the manifestations which are the root of pain.

Guaranteed feel-good song. I know the preview image is kinda weird, but the song is so happy and peaceful.

EDIT: Oh, I need to add this video. They are otters, and they are holding hands. Otters. Holding hands. Too cute.

EDIT YET AGAIN:

I forgot about this video. Joss Whedon directing an episode of The Office.

"It wasn't like Buffy was, y'know. ...Well, okay, it was a little sad and depressing. But it, there, it was funny. Especially when people died. And a lot of people do die in this episode. That is kind of I think my stamp."
