Actually it is, since she looks like that in the newest trailer. I explained further up why she looks like this.Nouw said:The cover art for Portal 2 screams '2001' all over it.
Moving on, yes she does look a tad more appealing. However the art on the cover isn't what she's going to look like in the actual game.
My bad then, she definitely looks more appealing!Megacherv said:Actually it is, since she looks like that in the newest trailer. I explained further up why she looks like this.Nouw said:The cover art for Portal 2 screams '2001' all over it.

Half Life 2 takes place around 2020 and Portal 1 takes place just before HL2. Portal 2 obviously way after that.Cowabungaa said:I'm not seeing that much of a difference, apart from the obvious quality in rendering. She just partially stripped her jumpsuit away, and is now revealing more with that tanktop.
Waitwhat? How does that work? Half Life 2 didn't take place that far in the future [http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_the_Half-Life_universe], and according to the same timeline Portal takes place a wee bit before Half Life 2. If it'd take place several hundred years after Portal, it'd take place several hundred years after Half Life 2 too. The timeline seems to suggest that as well.Lizmichi said:"Portal 2 takes place several hundred years after the first game; as part of the Half-Life series, the game takes place sometime after Half-Life 2. Despite her apparent destruction at the end of Portal, GLaDOS, an artificial intelligence computer system, remains functional but dormant."Megacherv said:Snip

That is an oddly hilarious comment.gigastar said:Maybe Valve has just learned that if theese guys are going to make porn out of thier character, it might as well look nice.
Not that Chell was that much of a character in the first place.PlasmaFrog said:... And there goes all hopes for character uniqueness, right out the window.
Pretty much this, I liked the fact that Chell looked ordinary, plain, it made her stand out from the crowd of supermodel video game characters, it made her believable. And now they just throw her into the crowd she stood out from, bad move Valve.PlasmaFrog said:... And there goes all hopes for character uniqueness, right out the window.
Sadly high heels are bad for your spine and posture, so they're poorly designed.etherlance said:Well they gave her shoes.........that seems like a wise step at least.
Pretty much this. Portal was an experiment (I mean the game, not the events in the game), they just added Chell for whatever reason and place little to no emphasis on her. This time around it would seem they are wanting to develop her further and possibly make her a character rather than just an avatar.RatRace123 said:I don't think Chell's model was all that important in the first Portal, she was kinda just a placeholder for the player rather than an icon of the series (That honor goes to everyone's favorite psychopathic science performing AI, Or perhaps everyone's favorite geometric object with hearts on it.).
I guess they want to give her more of an identity in this one... and yes, that identity is pretty attractive.

I'll definitely have to pick it up now!Jacob.pederson said:On darn near any other game, I'd disagree, but since the PS3 disk comes with a free pc version . . . I say YES!smearyllama said:Not bad. What should I get the game for when it comes out?
I probably won't get it for a while, but I'm guessing PS3 would be the best choice...
What do you guys think?
Because Rochelle was such a smashing, riotous success. I hope they either leave her mute or write her as interesting as a TF2 character.Dr. Paine said:I'd chalk at least some of this up to improved graphics/a better design team. Everything in Portal 1 (which has been described, on multiple occasions, as a test) seemed to be designed for function. Portal 2 is the true product, and is designed to work well and look awesome to boot.
... there's probably some attempt to bring Chell up to par with other Valve girls, too. I'd say it's working.
they seem to press down when she walks/run in the video so there not much of high heels they just happen to put some spring in your stepPedro The Hutt said:Sadly high heels are bad for your spine and posture, so they're poorly designed.etherlance said:Well they gave her shoes.........that seems like a wise step at least.
Part of me want to pull out that 'Laugh harder' clip.Ephraim J. Witchwood said:Thus, Valve did make another game protagonist that I would give anything to have just one steamy night with.
On a more serious note, she looks good. I'm liking the more realistic proportions and such. Maybe this will start a new trend of developers making female characters that are good looking without being unbelievable?
