Better pick a damn good VP candidate if he does go. I remember hearing how people wouldn't vote for McCain 'cause he was too damn old, and him croaking in office would bump Palin into the presidency.

Cheney for Emperor of the USA!

Seriously, Cheney as Prez with perhaps Palin as Vice-Prez would be my worst nightmare. The man is insane. Someone really needs to shove him in his man-sized safe and drop it off a cliff.

Yeah, everyone hates presidents. No one can run and not be hated or get past 2 years and be hated.

Like now!

Or to the Apocalypse, if Cheney et al. can hire enough spin doctors and produce enough sound bites.

Not bad. I'm just going to build this fort over here while I wait for the know-it-all freshman community college students to comeback from their soy laities.

While I build this fort, I must say that I would approve the nomination (despite my desire to see Huckabee/Colbert for reals) on the grounds that we can finally get a good look at how Cheney plays politics. No doubt that their are other qualified and less controversial tickets and I do know of some people from the S. Dakota with good credentials. That aside, good article, nice to see some thought in a mine field of knee jerk reaction and auto-bury.
[note: proofread moar]

The sound you heard was not liberals spitting out their lattes (to paraphrase the article). It was the sound of smacking lips and drool from every Democrat in the country at the thought of Cheney at the top of the ticket in 2012. We could have 70 seats in the Senate! I WISH Republicans were stupid enough to nominate him.

I really hate how every time a conservative mentions Liberals, they throw in a latte or hybrid crack. I don't know about the rest of them, but I always make sure not to make cracks unless it's a personal conversation. And last time I checked, News articles are the exact opposite of that.

OT: That article made me realize there aren't ANY Republicans I'd vote for president. That's about all I got out of it.

I will assume in this response that you actually read the article.

You have missed the topic of this OpEd: this is about the political ramifications of such a personality taking center stage for a political party that is ruining around with its head cut off. It is about the wide spreed international exposure on a scale that is the stuff of MoveOn's wet dreams. This issue of What If celebrates the system of american politics and how we as a nation (I'm looking at you "Moral Majority". Don't tell me you didn't start this) have let it rot in our all to brief twitter-ific culture.

Wasn't his approval rating around 20-30% at one point?
In addition to the fact that he's a madman, do they really want somebody with such low ratings to run for president?

Just remembering my old sophomore community college days. I'm also drawing from this site's demographic: young students who may or may not drink soy laities.

And yes, I do know the danger of generalization, but its fun to rag on the 5 paragraph Charlie's and their "im so hawt IN MY BRAIN" personalities.

Anyways, its the internet, wha'cha expect PhDs?

Lol fair point :p I just love the irony of the "mature" demographic being the quickest to throw out the quips ;P

Granted, I'd still trade our bleeding hearts and chronic victims for your smart asses lol

He made it pretty clear that he didn't have any intentions of running while he was in the Bush admin, so I doubt he would.

I would vote for him

It is a futile attempt to even think about trying to defeat him

I usually lean towards the republican side of politics, and CANNOT stand Obama, but even I realize that Cheney as president would be an absolutely horrible idea
