I have the mindset that: if there's two things that I like and they are combined into one thing, it usually turns out to be something bad. Take for instance the title of this thread. I like chicken cordon bleu and I like pizza. Actually, I love pizza, and my liver specialist told me pizza was the perfect food. Anyways, when I saw this combination it made me wonder if this was actually a good combination or not. Turns out, it wasn't bad at all!

So, what unusual or wacky food or beverage combinations have you experienced to be surprisingly good, decent or pleasant despite first impressions?

That... Sounds... DELICIOUS!!!

Anyways, I'd have to say, hmm I've made a lot of wacky combos...

Probably corn and mushrooms, they compliment each other, and hot red peppers with a hint of lime in Spaghetti/lasagna

Well, I like the taste of MacDonalds fries dipped into Macdonalds strawberry milkshakes.

Something about the combination of salty potato and sweet straberry combines to make something really tasty.

Generally two good things make something great; take bar-b-que and pizza, both match up well together but are fantastic apart.

Pizza as a whole, is a great thing to combine with most western foods. Because there is normally a pretty decent protein + dairy component to US casual cooking matching it with a carbohydrate like pizza makes it really easy to match. All you need then is a sauce (red sauce, bbq, garlic, hummus, tzaziki [sp], pesto, etc.) And you are good to go.

You know, I'll have to try that the next time I go to McD's. Strawberry milkshake dipping sauce...I wonder how that would work with McNugglets...
