There's this petition going around that's been shoved in my face several times over. People are getting mad at me and even threatening me just because I tell them that I just don't give a damn about the stupid chickens.
Since when is the fate of a simple minded bird of such high value?
Of all of the major problems in the world, such as pollution and economic decline and so on, people instead put all of this effort into a species of bird that's bred for produce?
I know I know 'They beat and hurt the poor birds' But hell, THEY'RE JUST BIRDS!
Personally I wish people would maybe, I don't know, focus on the well being of his fellow man.
But that's just me.
Has any one else seen the petition [quoted bellow]?
And, what are YOUR thoughts on, well, all of it.

"Hello there everyone. It's your favorite tree hugging hippie. :p
I was wondering if you would do me the favor and take a look at this link.
It correlates with PETA's McCruelty campaign. If you are already aware of what that is, fantastic. If not, here is some information for you.

McCruelty;
"There is a less cruel method of slaughter available today that would eliminate these abuses, yet McDonald's refuses to require its U.S. suppliers to switch to this method."

McDonald's, or as we vegans & vegetarians like to refer to it, McCruelty, is all too common for their cheap prices and "great food". But do you really know where that food comes from? The chickens (&bovine) you consume probably on a weekly basis, come from farms where very little, to NO compassion, nor humane methods are shared towards the animals on your plate.

Not only are there alternative food sources, we do have better methods of killing these animals. Think about it this way- Since you're going to kill it anyways, why can't the animal die happy? My personal opinion is to not eat meat, but there's lots of you who enjoy your "precious" McNuggets.

Be Aware;
If you find any of this enlightening, disturbing, informational, or morally wrong, please, sign this campaign against the WRONGFUL TREATMENT of these poor animals. I'm not telling you to stop eating meat (although that would be a nice thought). I just want you people to become more aware of what goes on. Who knows. It might make you want to change the way you view those nuggets.

Thanks for your time everyone! <3."

I don't know why, but every time I read this it just annoys me.

We don't much like PETA here... Their methods are ineffective, and make things worse.
Don't advertise... Not cool, man.

Also, I already know what kind of crappy conditions modern factory-farmed animals live in. I choose to not eat McDonald's food because it tastes bad, and is bad for me, and I dislike it. McDonalds and Wal-Mart... Two places I will rarely shop at.

That's one big wall of text there my friend. You mind summing that up?
But my opinion is that Chicken are frail and without natural defenses. Therefore, Chickens need our protection, and have yet to register a complaint about the price for that protection.

How was he advertising? He stated his feeling about the petition, and then presented it so that we could see what he was talking about.

And, yes, PETA and their imaginary moral high ground be damned. There are far more important things in this world than the well-being of livestock.

I do, however, wonder how they'd react to something like the sligs from Dune. Animals bred purely for the purpose of being eaten.

My state that had a bill passed that demanded that hundreds of farms rebuild their facilities and cages to allow chickens to turn around in their cages, and yet banned gay marriage in the same election.

I am quite disgusted with humanity.

I am not fully sure why PETA wants McDonalds to treat animals correctly if they are just going to die. The logic in that escapes me. I know they want it to "Die Happy", but if it is dead, then it is dead. Or am I missing the point?
I'm with this guy.
Who cares?

I love me some chicken!
Anyone who takes away my chicken will get hurt very badly.

Anyway...
I actually find the McCruelty very funny.
A little annoying but pretty damn funny.

It seems we care more about how our FOOD will be slaughtered rather than how free HUMANS can be. These animals are bred to die, their fate is already sealed, so why bother letting them turn? Unless they plan on working them out for leaner meat, I don't see the point. (This is California you're speaking of, correct?)

True.

I don't care about PETA. I love animals, but I find it sad that there are animals that are treated better than humans.

I agree with this guy.

There are so many bigger problems in the world than determining what's the best way to "humanely" kill our food.

I don't care if the Chicken was a college graduate I'm still eating him. That should sum up my feelings about animals as food.

McDonalds is... Meh.
Substandard fast food, not the most evil corporation around, not the most evil fast food chain around, not the food chain that has lowest standards for their sourced livestock.
About the only thing they win at is being the most hated by PETA, judging from this.

As for the chickens themselves, I really don't see that it would be so much trouble to give them slightly better conditions.

Think of it like this: An ideal-world goal is to make every person happy, and not only is poor livestock treatment making a large number of people unhappy, but ensuring that animals are happy is all part of complete ideal consistency.

Yes, the idealist in me refuses to die.

Cruelty is not tolerated by society.
Especially cruelty on such a large scale against a living thing which has no way of resisting us.
Either we reject cruelty in its entirety or we accept it. To sit on the fence with the excuse that humans are more intelligent is the equivalent of saying its alright to beat the shit out of babies and retards*.

*Term used for emphasis, not intended as a derogatory comment. Intent is to show lack of compassion and sensitivity in people holding such beliefs.

........there's really only one thing to say here. I disagree with their point of view, and feel that their beliefs are foolish. Or, in laymans terms, Goddamn hippies!
