From what little I've seen from this type of music, symphonic orchestras have plenty of female instrumentalists. Not the type of music we'd listen to often, but yeah..

Also, let me mention Sonic Syndicate for having a female bassist who can sing well too.

I'm saying that good bands don't have vocalists. Words just get in the way of musical expression.
... right... no. As somebody who enjoys opera a lot more than most other classical music I'd say I disagree. Are you referring to classical music? Or are you referring to weird random stuff that even crazy old people with dementia don't like. Examples are what I'm looking for I guess.

Well alright, good to see you back up your blanket statement. But having lyrics doesn't have to impact your musical expression, in fact I feel it often can improve the structure of songs. Besides, that's not the point of singers, "just to say some words" essentially.
I'd love it if my sister sung that.
Besides...

Arch Enemy has a female vocalist. she scares me shitless.
I was wondering if I was going to have to mention this or not. I'm not much for their music, but she is brutal.

I feel like this is relevant:

But this isn't mainstream music in any sense. You seem to be complain that women aren't prevalent in mainstream "rock 'n roll" music.

My response: who the fuck cares?

Or more precisely, people who listen to that type of music don't. If they did, they would listen to better music.
