I am a member of Xbox Live, have been for about 3 years now and something that has been miffing me lately is the abilty to not view mature content or use some of the newer features on the Preview Update like Facebook or Last.fm due to my child account. I have searched the internet for ways to upgrade from a child account to an adult account and the only way I see it is to wait until my 18th birthday in April in which I will gain the option to "Promote Child Account".

I'm not exactly a patient individual.

If anybody, anyone at all has some other knowledge of how to upgrade an account without waiting until your 18th birthday, please inform so.

Use a different email address that says that you're older.

I think that's the only way to do it.

I imagine you'd have to start a new account. you should never make an account that says your under 18 YO. It's less restrictive and safer.

I phoned Microsoft about an hour for this exact problem and was told that you can't change the date in any way. You will have to wait for your 18th according to the date you used when you signed up. They can't even upgrade your account to an adult one for you if you say your the parent.
