So I was thinking about what I did during my childhood, and I got thinking about pokemon yellow... ahh the memories...

Anyway, I started looking up the soundtrack for it and I found this, a little remix of pallet town. That brought back memories of one of the menu screens from pokemon stadium and all sorts of other stuff. I know this is a remix instead of the original version and I apologise to the fans who don't appreciate it, I just thought it was cool.

This got me thinking about how awesome my childhood years were compared to how they are now. I remember playing pokemon, building stuff out of lego and watching the mighty morphing power rangers. Pretty awesome stuff from my perspective.

Anyway back to my original point, does anyone here look back to their earlier years and think "damn, everything was better back then!"? It's quite odd really that now I have all the shiny gadgets that I always wanted as a kid, im learning to program and everything is going quite well and yet I cant help but look back and think about how everything seemed better back then. I guess in a way its probably because I'm only thinking of the good stuff, rather than anything bad that happened but, meh I dunno. Anyone else here feeling the same?

If so, what was it that made your childhood awesome?

The only thing I miss about my childhood is when me and my brothers would play split screen games all day long.

Not having any real responsibilities. And owning a proper SNES and a proper controller and proper Turtles in Time. Sigh... back to the emulator.

My first memories involve the NES. Do I even need to go into detail?
Also, Calvin & Hobbes. Everything I need to know I learned from Calvin & Hobbes.
Also, "Weird" Al Yankovic. I saw him in concert last year-ish, and man, when he did Amish Paradise, a song I first heard when I was maybe 7, I felt positively euphoric.
One of these days, I'm going to get my hands on a 3DS, and I'm going to download Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. The nostalgia will hit me so hard I'll have to lay down for a while.

I seem to recall posting in a nostalgia thread the other day...

Anyway the trainer battle music from R/B/Y gets to me every time.

i actually had an immense nostalgic experience a couple weeks ago. when i was young, i was a huge batman fan. we are talking like collecting all the toys, watching all of the movies and stuff. i was even batman for halloween for 7 or 8 years in a row. on spike there was a batman movie marathon and watching batman (1989) just made my mind swirl with nostalgia.

Masters of the Universe, ThunderCats(they're back!), Transformers, G.I. Joe, G Force, You can't do that on Television, NES(every time I mention it my brother corrects me "SNES". My original system that was mine was a NES) and a few others. Man, there were some good shows on back then and we only got three channels most of the time, sometimes a fourth. This is why I'm enjoying the new ThuderCats so much. Yeah, it's way different, but I get to go back to Third Earth and see characters I've missed.

No, because I can still play pokemon now, and it is much simpler and more convenient because it's on my phone instead of a brick that can barely fit in my pocket (if at all). I'm going to QLD next week and it will be a long drive...pokemon will likely come into it.

Just to grab an example; Maplestory. I played it back when I was... 12? and to date whenever I hear the log in screen music it sends a chill down my spine. For being my first mmorpg it sure was a great one(at the time, heard nexon screwed it pretty badly once they bought up wizet).

Ugh, 90's radio in a sunny Oregon coastal town. This didn't have to be geek things right?

Is it weird that I only remember the bad parts of my childhood? I mean I've had a pretty good life so far but most of the time I only remember the bad parts and when I remember something good it also comes with something bad, but I guess it doesn't matter because it makes me think Man do I have it good right now.
