I joined escapist around this time last year. I havent posted very often at all. I have been coming here at least once a week since then just to read up on alot of games. I must say tho I dont like the way outsiders are treated here. Seems every year the loyal,high posts,and friendly escaptist members turn into .....
I have aready stopped reading most of the MM forums( This is such an amazing site so please chill out on all the attacks just let it go.
And yes I know most of the new comers will not be here passed the MM contest, but acting like morons will not make any of the ones that think this site is great so willing to come back.

On Topic: I think the only reason "Outsiders" are considered Sub-Standrd here, is because lots of people don't have very valuable input. The people with higher post counts usually post more because they have more to say, and it is usully more interesting, entertaining or insightful.

Yeah, but Outsiders are sometimes disrespected here, and you can see why, some of them just think this is a forum for stupid people and comment things like 'lol' and replacing letters with numbers...

They dont tend to read the rules as much as everyone else who has been her for a while and wants to stay

It gets a bit heated in the MM forums, you can't make little jokes without being accused of flaming.

Got nothing against people who are here just for MM, because they are just here for MM, and even if they weren't they would end up talking about other games eventually.

The rules seem to change this time of year, low content posts get left alone, there is a whole forum dedicated to VS threads and you get accused of flaming for anything that isn't as happy as a childrens TV presenter pretends to be.

I haven't been called out on being an outsider, but then I don't think I've contributed enough, good or bad, to even be noticed in the long term. Regardless I don't think people are looking for more members to join in, they just want a community base whose opinions aren't made of shyt.

Then again I have no clue what MM is, so maybe I've missed the point of your thread. (For my defense, I'm not wrapped up in most common knowledge and I'm doing an assignment due in today)

Eh, its mostly just the MM forums that are hostile.

Any other time of the year we're a fun bunch. But yeah, most of the normal, good users stay out of the March Mayhem stuff.

That and we don't care for those who don't read the rules or post anything meaningful. Most people get high post count from forum games and the groups, so don't worry about that.

Just don't post 1 word responses like "lol"

or things like "cool story bro" or "tl:dr"

or troll and/or try to start a flame war

People generally only get 'attacked', as you put it, when they post something that is: highly offensive, specifically designed to cause a flame-war, is obviously an ad-bot, or has little to no discussion value. There are of course some exceptions; every community has its dick-heads that just insult people for the fun of it, but by the same enforcement these people get weeded out too.

I'm thankful for the zero tolerance when it comes to shit posts - stops this place from turning into any old slum aka 4chan/most other forums. After-all, at the end of the day; if you've posted something obviously shit you've just wasted people's time and lowered the standard of the website.

When I joined the escapist just a couple of months ago I was met with acceptance and made to feel welcome - if you or other people aren't; you're probably doing it wrong.

This is my point! most escapist are more easy going 11 months out of the year then MM starts and then......
I do spend alot of time reading about newer games and all posters input on/about games. This site is more informtive than any other out there. And plus it can be down right funny
