Games kill, allegedly.

Not playing games kill, actually.

Guess FOX News will be blaming this on games as well then?
Of course it's the games that kill! Not the blunt object that was used against the lad! Shit, it's his fault he had lag!

Wow, talk about a good mood killer.
That's just plain fucked up.

The Faith in Humanity Bank is going to close my account of I go any further into the negative.

That's some crazy stuff. Hope those teachers get thrown in jail or something for that.
That or they'll get promoted to the drug addiction camps...

Honestly how could anyone not be suprised? a communist country with a terrible human rights record? It still is bad that he was beaten to death, but the only thing you need to do to break an addiction is keep them away from it for a while. Not beat them.

Does this reminf anyone of those little things called "Concentration Camps" held by a certain "Fuhrur" all those decades ago?
Yes,yes it does. But what did you expect? China is a brutal authoritarian dictatorship, and i loathe it for that.

Alternatively, you could just pay my brother 1000 bucks for flying to China and beating people to death. He can do it - he's already a mix of Joker,Hitler,Freidrich Nietzsche, and Ice Queen. And he's only 12.

I wonder if the camp is going to be shut down or if the parents will "disappear". Anyway running isn't going to solve internet addiction.
No, no it's not. I run, and I still consider myself 'addicted to the internet.'

Well... huh.

Internet addiction, I get.
Camp to beat internet addiction, I get.
Beating addiction out of people... mmmm, you lost me.
Beating to death? Three people, none of them noticed "hey... he's spitting out an awful lot of blood" maybe they thought, "look, he stopped resisting, it might be starting to take! beat harder!"
*facepalm*

What's the big deal with internet addiction anyway? Honestly like it's such a huge prob... oh crap! I'd write more but it's 1:41am and I've got work at 8, I might post some more at work between facebook games...

Should never have happened. If his parents had taken on their responsibility for raising THEIR OWN CHILD, it wouldn't have happened.

Not really surprised to hear about any sort of terrible thing happening in China any more.

Well not sure thats what they meant by we will "beat you into shape"...

Harsh, though not surprising that it happend in China. Im curious to see exactly what sort of regimentation they put the kids there through, sounds more like basic training for chinese troops. Wouldnt surprise me if they were just training soldiers.
They do have a tendency to beat on people pretty good in China.

But the kid had a mental attachment to the internet you don't need to club him. Running is good, the good ol fashioned push up/sit up regimen is also good. But if you over do it especially with someone in rough shape (I know, round is a shape) you can kill them. If you don't apply it correctly it can be more unhealthy than the Cheeto and Pepsi diet.

ninja'd

you got me there. I was about to correct my previous post. But then they would have disappeared and committed group suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head then burying themselves in separate shallow graves.

If you get my drift

Really all that can be said is just a knee jerk reaction about how behind the times and evil China is.

Addiction to something socially acceptable to excel at is okay, but addiction to something socially seen as a one person activity is potential daaaanger.. If some people had it their way we wouldn't be using computer for entertaintment, and they'd still take up a whole room and have only word and number processors.

Mmm, so glad I live anywhere but there. Imagine if they tried to do that in America. Oh man, riots man. Riots. Sucks that they lost their son. That's deeply terrible, it really is. Nothing can justify their actions. Nothing at all. No addiction deserves death from those trying to "help" them. That's just bullshit.

However, you can't really blame people for getting addicted to something like the "internet". Different factors key into addictions, especially an internet addiction. Technology has made almost all the information we need right at our fingertips. Instead of going to a library and looking for all the information we needed or wanted, we can just go to Google. Social face-to-face interaction isn't needed behind a computer screen. We can hide all of imperfections and polish ourselves with some online persona that people either revere or detest. If they wanted to keep people from behind computers, don't make games like MMORPGs that connect other people from around the world. Don't let console games have internet capabilities. Let's all be shut off from the rest of the world and go explore it for ourselves again. Yeah, it's not healthy being addicted, I'm not condoning it. But it seems that everything else points to being crippled by it.

Remember South Park when the internet ran out? Case and point.
