Hey guys, i don´t really know if this is the right place, i think this forum is aimed mostly to "real life" or "personal" advice, but well, i am seeking advice after all...

I have being reluctant to upgrade from my trusty "Nokia" (this one)
because at work they have us hooked up with a "Nextel" (the only "radio/phone" provider in my country) plan, it might not be the most gorgeous device I have, but it´s enough for what I do

just recently they told us that due to the crisis some cutbacks needed to be made, and i proposed that they should cancel all the "Nextel" accounts and each of us should make use of self provided mobile services, it didn't went well with my co-workers, but the motion passed, after all, I would rather cut our expenses at a corporate level than having to fire someone down in production, and we all can afford a service, its not going to be as good as the one the company provided but it will be enough for work.

so, checking my personal expense and income, I realized I can get my self a service plan large enough to get an smart phone, but I don´t know which one, i made a test on-line and it told me i should get an iPhone... but i have heard wonderful things about the "Android" based phones

TL;DR and conclusion, my question is this, which one would be better?, an iPhone or an Android based phone, and if its Android, which phone would be the best?

If you're going high end, get an HTC or an iPhone.

I'm getting an Evo next month personally, but I'm with Sprint.

DAMN... the HTC looks great, but it isn´t in my country... and "Sprint" is the owner of "Nextel", and it sucks in mobile phones here :p

Oh, it sucks everywhere.

It's just cheap as sin here. The plan I have right now is 30 dollars cheaper (20 dollars cheaper after my upgrade) then the equivalent AT&T plan.

As for mexican availability... no go. Unlike the courteous American websites, Mexican carriers do not seem to provided alternative languages on there web sites.

Freaking nightmare. Sorry I can't help.

I wrote something dumb before about Sprint/HTC Evo's being the baddest mofo's in the world instead of reading the thread first.

My mom uses a Droid Incredible with Verizon. It's pretty much more of the same, but I haven't been keeping up with Verizon's new smartphones since I got my badass new Evo Shift which rocks and cures cancer.

What country do you live in? Anyways, I am not a big fan of Apple, so I replaced my iPhone with a HTS Desire HD as soon as I could (The Iphone was given for free)

Samsung Galaxy S is also a decent Android phone,

Well I repeatedly hear that the iPhone is simpler to use than Android (I at least know from experience that the iPhone is pretty easy to use!), so if your not so great with phones, I'd say go with that :3

However, there will prooobably be a new iPhone soon (ish, probably be announced in the next few months), so you might want to wait till the iPhone 5 is announced... if it has must-have new features (4G? Near-Field Communication?), then go with that, if not, then the iPhone 4 will be cheaper than before :p

I´m in Mexico, and apparently, the Galaxy S is one of the only Android based phones they sell here... I thought there would be a bigger market, all the other phones I would have to get them trough mail, and then make my contract with the phone company... which sucks...

actually, if I decide for an iPhone, I was going to wait for the next one later this year, that way they will probably have it in my mobile company...

other than that, i think its going to be a tad more expensive than i thought, i was checking and in here they can get you the "HTC desire" in an average of 700 bucks... how much is it over there??

If you've got money to spent, get an Iphone
If you need it for business get a blackberry,
If you want something a bit cheaper but also cool get an android (I quite fancy the HTC myself)

Samsung Galaxy works pretty well, and they've just brought out a new one.
