He was a good batman, just that growling voice thing sucked. I liked Michael Keatons batman. :) Who could play Batman next? Not that "robin" guy from the last movie.
I agree, I liked Bale for the most part, but that voice thing he did was downright laughable at times. I mean literally, my wife and I would be laughing at his "over-voicing" and it wasn't supposed to be a funny scene.
Thanks mate. In the last movie with Bane. Batman talked to himself in the same growly voice even though there was no one else around. lol

I think they should make an Aquaman movie next. With the technology and effects they can do these days it could be pretty awesome. Or completely terrible depending on who's at the helm.

and at this point the only people who picture another actor on hearing the word "Batman" are sixty-five-year-olds still harboring a crush on Adam West, and insufferable children of the 1980s who refuse to accept anyone but Kevin Conroy as the Dark Knight.
Hey now, Michael Keaton did a pretty damn good job at it!

As for Bale, I'm pretty sure it was announced a good while back that Dark Knight Rises would be the last one that he'd do, ending things with a trilogy. And with the exception of having a voice that sounded like he gargles with gravel, I would agree that he did a pretty good job. The problem with continuing along that "line" of Batman movies is that no matter what you do, everyone's gonna say "It wasn't as good as Dark Knight." DAMN YOU AND YOUR UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING JOKER, HEATH LEDGER!

As for who should be next? I dunno. Why don't we get Robert Downy Jr. to play it for shits and giggles? He already plays essentially the same character in Tony Stark...just more eccentric than brooding. And personally - while it would be a complete departure from Batman's canonical character - I'd like to see a more eccentric than brooding Batman. :p

Well since I was tired of Batman exactly one movie ago I don't really care. Bale being out and opening the door for new blood doesn't really thrill me as due to the restraints of the character he could easily be replaced by a lump of wood. He's like Mario in that respect. Old dog, old tricks.

Next Batman movie plot: New or old Batman Villain de jour arrives, mayhem ensues, love interest (or side kick) introduced, a few scenes reminding us that he's a billionaire playboy who suffers from a deep seated tragedy and not just a black latex suit, which is a bit ironic as Bruce Wayne seems to always have less depth than rubber mask, back to mayhem, something witty, cool gadgets, villain defeated against overwhelming odds. Credits hinting at next franchise installment. Yawn.

At least in the comics they gave the character some depth. The movies just never seem to be able to move ahead of his origin story. So until they are able to establish some growth or maturity for the character and the universe he inhabits they may as well just go with the most affordable actor they can get as acting talent really doesn't matter when they will be nothing more than an ambulatory coat rack for the bat suit.

Whatever. That's my reaction, whatever.

Movie Batman didn't feel like a deep character to me, the villains were the guys with personality. Batman was more like furniture. So if Bale doesn't want to be Batman, it doesn't matter to me at all.

Meh, I am not bothered, I'm not a batman fan. I still think Tom Hardy getting the role of Bane was a crime. (I like Tom as an actor but he didn't have the build for Bane)
I agree with you on that about Tom

You know, if they went ahead and did a live action Batman Beyond, Kevin Conroy could be a convincing Old Bruce.

I honestly didn't like him as Batman. As someone else said, he was a good Bruce Wayne, but he wasn't a good Batman.

I don't know who I'd want to play Batman next. Joseph Gordon Levitt, as others have said would be the natural progression to tie the series into anything new that comes about.

Believe it or not, I would actually like to see them tie the Nolan trilogy into a Justice League film and have Joseph Gordon Levitt become the new Batman. Hear me out here, before you start ridiculing me. SPOILERS AHOY, BY THE WAY!!!!!

At the end of The Dark Knight Rises, we had Robin John Blake (known by his middle name, John) inherit Wayne Manor and be given directions to the Bat Cave. I won't go into all the issues with this, and how Wayne would be found almost immediately living alive and well with Selina Kyle in Florence (given his status as a billionaire playboy), because others already have done. The point here is that he has the basic physical strength (as a cop), the basic mental attributes (as a detective), and the resources (via his inheritance) to be able to take up the cowl. However, these are the basics. He doesn't have the ongoing wealth source, so will have to rely on the remaining funds siphoned off by Morgan Freeman, playing Morgan Freeman, playing Lucius Fox, from Wayne Industries in order to fund the overheads to keep the Cave running and power the equipment. He still doesn't have the years of training or experience that Bruce Wayne had though, so he'll struggle noticeably.

Overall, the potential is there but as the trilogy was grounded in (relative) realism, it doesn't make a massive amount of sense. Therefore, I see a Justice League movie where the main heroes EXCEPT FOR BATMAN are involved (Superman, Wonder Woman, Auaman, Green Arrow, and no-one else to start off. Maybe Green Lantern if they can make a new film that's actually good, though I'd say they should still keep Ryan Reynolds in the role if he can be a slightly more serious version of Hal Jordan...). Batman isn't a part of the group, but when Bat-Blake ends up trying to get involved he soon realises he's way out of his depth, something the likes of Jim Gordon already realise due to his mainly taking down small fry in Gotham rather than bigger villains as Bruce Wayne did.

In my vision of the story, each of the Justice League will have had their own origin movies already. As such, I see Justice League (the movie) as effectively being partly the second half of an origin story for the John Blake Batman, the first half having been The Dark Knight Rises. During Justice League, in my idea, Blake will finally realise that he's out of his depth and end up enlisting the help of the other Justice League members to deal with a larger threat, through which they see his potential and decide to train him. The training itself would be a slow and ongoing process as a side story to the main plot and villain, but would ultimately have Blake acting as an effective and skilled successor to the cowl. He still wouldn't have the same skills and abilities as the Bruce Wayne Batman, but would eventually develop to that extent (from the Begins level of skill through to the Rises level of skill that fought Bane) over the course of further films in the continuity. An ongoing character development story that shows the rise of the new Batman despite the early struggles.

With this, we get the Justice League movie we all (presumably) want to see, we get a realistic and sensible character arc, and we get to see the existing Batman film cycle become a part of that mythos which eliminates the need for a new Bruce Wayne and a rehash of the same old origin that Batman always has. Plus, we might get to hear Joseph Gordon Levitt say the infamous "Goddamn Batman" line, which would be pretty awesome ;D.

Obviously the concept requires a lot of tweaking, but this is just a rough idea of what could be done. If anyone else has any ideas or comments, please, I'd love to hear them :)
I'm sorry, but they should reboot it and start over with a new Bruce Wayne. JGL as Batman is a terrible idea.

I really think they should roll with the continuity of Nolans world and have Joseph Gordon Levitt star as Nightwing in a new trilogy. Would be rather cool if you ask me. No mention of 5 ft nothing Michael Keaton in the article huh? Hmmph! I personally thought Bale was the finest Batman and when I saw him in American Psycho I thought he would fit the part perfectly many years ago.

Joseph Gordon Lewitt seems obvious with that ending. I figured Bale's batman died at the end, so I don't think he should play Batman again anyway, since the ending wouldn't be as open as it is. I like Bale, and he was the best Batman I've seen, but JGL would likely be great too.

Perfect Idea!!!

Cast any random actor who can look the parts of playboy and superhero...and just have Kevin Conroy dub the lines

Or maybe do a Bixby/Ferigno type deal where actor does playboy lines but Conroy dubs Batman lines

Then we don't have to hear...ahem..."Whybblblbblb kill me?

If JGL is going to play anyone other than Bats why not go full-on Batman Beyond? Bruce not being onscreen can be handled by being like Jarvis in his ear and the Beyond suit would let him relisticly roll with the heavy hitters in the JL movie.

Kevin Conroy had an amazing voice for the role, but he's all wrong for live action. He doesn't look the part, he doesn't move the part... he just doesn't fit.

I humbly volunteer for the role, all I need is a month with a personal trainer to get me into shape.

P.S. Thanks

What I don't understand was why he had to have a silly Batman voice for the trilogy. Why couldn't he just talk normally? All I could think of whenever Batman spoke was that he sounded stupid. None of the other Batmans did it and I hope this dumb affectation leaves with Mr. Bale, who was IMO a very good fit for part. Although the third movie was pretty crumby, the other two were good.

Anyway, to the more important topic at hand. The next Batman should be: Henry Cavill.

But whatever, just don't fekking reboot it again. Stop with restarting every fekking character. There's only so many times we can watch a different take on the same f**ing story.

Im fond of this, especially as the live action Batman Beyond film was what was put on the shelf in order to open the door for Nolans reboot.

Only problem is that the beyond narrative has been struggling to survive, much less regain the traction it has lost since Y2K was still a thing.

The problem is, He was the batman before his time. Look at Conroy back in the day long before TAS

So if the films were back in the 1980s, he would have been visually pretty close to perfect for it to go with the voice.

Let's bring back the classic!
Adam West! That's right, he's 84 years old, but he's just as sprightly as he was in the sixties!
Just imagine the excitement of watching him in the classic outfit running around holding a giant round black Bomb over his head while cutting edge 3D CGI fighter jets and explosions are swirling around him, since those need to be in every movie now!

Yay, no more gravelly-voice Batman!

Who do I think should play the Dark Knight now? Um...can any action-focused actor do a good Kevin Conroy impersonation?
