Likely most of you have watched the youtube videos of C.Bale's meltdown during the T:Salvation shooting. I myself had heard about it but had never gotten around to watching the thing myself until yesterday.
I felt sorry for the guy. It's so unbelievably sad that we have come to the point that private moments of film shootings are being "leaked" and embarrass the actors and everyone who worked for the films. Anyone who has been anywhere near a movie set knows that actors go ballistic all the time. Even in little shitty movies, even mediocre actors. Good actors? They are walking insane asylums. Some of them can't act so well if they actually don't go apeshit every once in a while. And it's sad that we're now getting to the point where we can see that part of acting that we blissfully ignored until now, because in my opinion that's not supposed to be seen. Imagine watching "leaked" footage of Robert De Niro being totally in character (method actor etc) during the whole duration of the shooting of Taxi Driver (he even worked as one for quite some time just for the movie's sake FFS). It would look absolutely ridiculous. And if you disrupted that in some way, I bet he'd rip your heart out. But is the end result ridiculous? No. It's epic.
Well, it really pissed me off and thought I'd post about it, although I realize that this side of the debate is probably of little interest to anyone who is not somewhat close to the movie industry, but no matter. What are your thoughts on this?
