Likely most of you have watched the youtube videos of C.Bale's meltdown during the T:Salvation shooting. I myself had heard about it but had never gotten around to watching the thing myself until yesterday.

I felt sorry for the guy. It's so unbelievably sad that we have come to the point that private moments of film shootings are being "leaked" and embarrass the actors and everyone who worked for the films. Anyone who has been anywhere near a movie set knows that actors go ballistic all the time. Even in little shitty movies, even mediocre actors. Good actors? They are walking insane asylums. Some of them can't act so well if they actually don't go apeshit every once in a while. And it's sad that we're now getting to the point where we can see that part of acting that we blissfully ignored until now, because in my opinion that's not supposed to be seen. Imagine watching "leaked" footage of Robert De Niro being totally in character (method actor etc) during the whole duration of the shooting of Taxi Driver (he even worked as one for quite some time just for the movie's sake FFS). It would look absolutely ridiculous. And if you disrupted that in some way, I bet he'd rip your heart out. But is the end result ridiculous? No. It's epic.

Well, it really pissed me off and thought I'd post about it, although I realize that this side of the debate is probably of little interest to anyone who is not somewhat close to the movie industry, but no matter. What are your thoughts on this?

I think he can take it considering his salary. Just the price you have to pay for being a good actor I guess.

I agree.

Although he was very over the top, he is working in what can be an extremely stressful job. Most actors are perfectionists, they want to give the best they can at all times, so if they are doing great and they get interrupted then it must be infuriating.

The man's one of the few remaining professional actors (As opposed to them psycho celebrity ones), if someone interrupting him on set, he's allowed to get pissed imo. Shouldn't have been put into public like, unless he gave permission for it to go into the making of bit on DVD.

Heh well I sniggered at the actual meltdown too. It reeked of Curb your Enthusiasm awkardness which I find hilarious. I just wish the guy Bale was yelling at laughed in his face. How awesome would that have been? :D The baleout remix is funny too. Just a different kind of funny :p

I side with Bale on this one. I've seen the video, and yes, he does go ballistic... but imagine you were trying to well up some tears, trying to act as if your best friend is dying or whatever the hell the scene was about, and all the emotion and feeling you have to build up, then in your peripheral vision, some jackass in a white T-shirt and cargo shorts is screwing with a light or something. It fucks up your whole vibe, distracts you. And Bale even says during his rant that this happened multiple times. It wasn't the first time the guy had been told about it. Eventually the dude just broke Bale down. The hell does he expect?

True, but the best thing is: he keeps in character during the whole rant (remember, he's British). Not once did he drop his accent. I say that's a sign of a good actor. He still overreacted a bit though, yes that light dude fucked up, but damn Bale kept going for almost 4 minutes. Waste of time in my book. But then again, I'm a to-the-point guy.

Old meme is old.

Anyway, everybody knows Bale's a momma's boy drama queen. It's all cool now though, Bale and the guy are actually pretty good friends, he just overreacted, that's all.
