Any tarnishing of the title "Trials and Tribulations" is expressibly outlawed among gamers.

EDIT: Typo.
...along? Tarnishing... What?
Looks like I missed another typo. Sorry about that.

And yeah, the title 'Trials and Tribulations' is a Phoenix Wright DS game, and it is amazing.

Okay. For a second I was a little afraid you were actually a fan of the LB franchise...

I would classify myself as a Christian, and I've read the books. I don't like most Christian-targetted media because it's... how to put this lightly... terrible. The books weren't all that great, either, but they were easy to read and entertaining. Completely ridiculous, but entertaining.

But the game... I have to ask. Isn't the whole point of the book series (and the books of Revelation, Daniel, etc. for that matter) that the actual people in the battle don't have a whole lot to do with the outcome? If you lose in the game, does that mean that Satan beat God? You're kind of crapping on your own concept, Left Behind Games. Way to go.

It only has "niche appeal" largely because they probably won't let you play as the forces of the Antichrist. I don't know about you, but that sounds like it would be a lot more fun.
Unless the forces of the anti-christ are lawyers and the forces of Christ are arch-angels that shoot arrows made of shurikens and lightning ... also exploding cakes of holy flame ... and by holy flame I mean the flames are made of minituare Jesuseseses? Jesi? (like Octupi, or platypi, or cacti)

OT: I like fun games, not games that sort of dance around the edges of certain genres so that they stay 'nice and clean', or alternatively, they dance around a genre to avoid being 'nice and clean'. If a story or game calls for violence do it right, if it doesn't, then don't do it right (as in, don't do the violence thing, but in a right way, not, don't do no violence in a right way)

This is the one thing I've never been able to figure out. With some chunks of Christian media, it's like the people involved didn't even try, they just said we'll slap a cross on it, and it'll automatically be better and win people over. This was especially true of a bunch of direct to VHS programs I was victimized by growing up, but I can't think fo an area of Christian media that isn't effected.

I make cracks about the game being genocidal, and some of that is my own cynisism. Supposidly the mechanics actually work to encourage you to use nonviolent means of converting opposing forces to your cause. But, something off the wiki did stand out: "Each time a Left Behind player kills a UN soldier, their virtual character exclaims, 'Praise the Lord!'" (The original source can be found here [http://www.thenation.com/blogs/notion/220960].)

Seeing as the Left Behind games are specifically anti-UN (the main baddie is the Anti-Christ, and is also the UN's President), they will never see any sort of praise from me.

I'm very curious as to how Wal-Mart will handle the entire thing.
That's because born again christians are THE worst conspiracy theorists: they're the worst because they actually believe most of the conspiracy theories they hear. So Many of them think the Trilateral Commission/The Illuminati/The UN were all formed by Satan worshippers. I like a good conspiracy theory as much as anyone else but I don't actually believe them. Then again what can you expect from a group of people who think the bible is a literal history book.
I think walmart is run by a bunch of born-agains so they probably think it's a grand idea.

It's an interesting concept, and while I have no interest in the games, the fact that a Christian-oriented company is using, shall we say sane, means of getting their message across rather than trying to ram it down people's throats is refreshing.

as long as it doesn't prohibit me from playing it on sundays, i wouldn't have a problem with a religion-based game, as long as it is fun.
