The title is a dead giveaway, ain't it? Just it's getting close to that time of the year again and while many of us might already be getting sick of the hype, I know for a fact that Christmas Memories are among the best in the lives of countless people.
So lets begin shall we?

Me First!: I remember one year I was EXTREMELY excited for Christmas so I did that old gag where you drink lots of water so you have to wake up to piss. So I did that and got up at 2:00am.
I nearly fell out of my skin when I saw the whole living room, not just the tree, though that was packed too, fucking coated in swag from Santa.

Needless to say, I didn't go back to bed, the parents loved hearing my play "Sly 2: Band of Thieves" though the night :)
With the added bonus of passing out during the day so I didn't have to deal with Extended Family and Friends who's names I often have a hard time remembering >_<

So Escapists, Have at it. What was your best Christmas Memory?

A hard question indeed, my younger memories of the holiday are rather blurred.
The only thing I can remember was my love of my parents covering the Christmas Tree in edible chocolates.
And the presents ... because who doesn't remember the brightly wrapped presents.

Other then that, most of my other memories come in the later years, where my family has taken many cruises around this time of the year ... I enjoy this, but the best year was in 2011, then we my last oversea holiday. My family had travelled from Australia to America for another cruise/holiday in Florida and then Christmas back in England on the way back.

That has to be my most remember-able Christmas, yet the most memories from that were me trying to get a post on our RP Avatar Adventures from my Mum's iPad. XD

I really don't have many Christmas memories, but I hardly ever see a point in remembering holidays. Christmas also comes right after my birthday, so the two tend to blend together. Either way, the ones I do remember:

2008: The last "normal" Christmas I had. It was also the last Christmas I spent with my older brother and with my mom when she was healthy.
2010: Last time I saw my mom alive. She passed away before the end of the year.
2012: The one time of the year I got to spend with my family because I was working every other holiday that year.

Yeah, Christmas doesn't necessarily come with the most joyous thoughts. They're a little more sober than that. I'm sort of hoping this year changes things. My family plans on doing a normal Christmas again (we already have the tree up!), and I believe we're having a get-together with my step-mom's family. Hopefully it will be enough to add it to the list of memorable Christmases.

That's a fine good memory you had Diablo. Also hahaha 'Santa's swag?' That made my night.

OT: Around the age of either 7 or 10, I was wakened up by my mom. This was when my brothers all shared the same room as I did really. Anyhow, she escorted us through the hallway... only to see Santa's foot prints to our living room tree. There was not only quite a bit of gifts, but a lot of photo taking that holiday morning.

Mostly got toys cause I was into that then, but still... got a firetruck with lights flickering on it and made noise as I pushed it across the floor. Everyone was just so happy, and the evidence of seeing Santa's footprints are truly remarkable. Of course, I kind of know what caused them now cause my Dad was in the military *cough* but still, that was an amazing effort to making the holiday feel 'jolly'.
Aye, See, we had a similar sorta thing in our house, we didn't really have a chimney that Santa could come down so we just said he used the back door ^^;
Still, seeing how much stuff he brought, I wasn't about to complain :p

We also tended to leave some Guinness in place of milk so you know that song "Grandma got Ran Over by a Raindeer"?
...That was our bad...Sorry >_<

It was a very special time ... but I haven't gone on vacation since.
Can't tell if it's because I'm too lazy or if I want to start travelling by myself now. :D

BUT you always remember a certain holiday.

Funny thing was that I still posted in the AA during that time ... still surprised that we didn't do a Christmas arc.
If it was named "The day Rugal saved Christmas" I might have died. XD

I have several good memories of Christmas. I mentioned one previously in the "How Did You Become a Gamer" thread when I got my first Gameboy ^_^

Other than that Christmas 2002 was a good one. My family went to stay with my Nan and her partner in Surfer's Paradise (Queensland Australia) for most of December. My Aunt and Uncle brought their families too and us kids ranged from 11 to 5 years old. We had a blast, going to the theme parks, fishing, playing sports and mucking around with our new toys (Beyblades and Digimon FTW). The house had a pool too which was awesome.

I also got the original PS2 Kingdom Hearts as a gift that year (my favorite PS2 game). That was a good Christmas.

On thing about Christmas is that it happens almost the exact same way every year, which is great! I'll just do a quick check list of my family traditions. Lots of great memories are attached to each one.

-Day after Thanksgiving, decorating the inside of the house. Every decoration besides the tree is put up.
-The middle of December, we go get the Christmas tree at the same awesome tree lot, which we will be doing in a day or two. :D
-The next few days afterward we decorate the tree from top to bottom.
-Christmas Eve, wrapping presents to put under the tree, having our signature Christmas Eve dinner, Bible reading of the Christmas story, watch either It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, or A Christmas Carol.
-Christmas Day, Open the presents, have the Christmas Day dinner, and enjoy being together. No in-laws, or extended family, just the five of us.

As for a specific Christmas? Whatever the year the Gamecube came out would be one of the best. We got among other things, Smash Bros. Melee, Star Wars Rouge Leader. Plus, on the N64 we got Paper Mario, which was awesome.

A more recent great Christmas would be the Christmas of 2007. I got the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess, (something very important to me because reasons) Super Mario Galaxy, and several DS games since we had just gotten our first DS just a few months before.

Too many great memories, if I keep going on my post will get ridiculously long.

Three memories stick out:

The first was from when I was very little and I woke up on Christmas morning to find a torch in my stocking. I insisted that morning that my parents not switch the lights on, so I could lead them downstairs with my new tool.

The second was a few years later and my parents got me some sort of video player for Christmas. However, they duped me by not putting it under the tree; they instead hid it in one of the wardrobes in the house (we lived in/ran a bed & breakfast at the time so there were lots of wardrobes in many bedrooms), locked the door, taped the key to the player's instruction manual and then left that wrapped under the tree. Christmas that morning went from present unwrapping to treasure hunt - it was so cool.

The most recent was a couple of years back, where for the first time my parents came to me instead of me going home. I was living with my lady (well, still am!) and Christmas was at our rented place. I cooked an enormous goose that we could barely fit in the oven and would've fed twice as many people as were there and we had a wonderful chilled time.

I hope this year's going to be another good one as my lady and I now own the place we're staying in - so it'll be the first Christmas in OUR home. My parents are coming down again, my lady's Dad will be visiting for a while and her sister & brother-in-law will be round for dinner. It'll be mental and stressful, but I think worth it.

I'm trying not to make these too much about presents received, as really that's not what the magic should be about eh?

Christmas memories, eh. Most of them are: woke up, unwrapped gifts, played games all day. Not really much more I could ask for.

I guess I have to deal with waking up early and getting my mom & stepdad to open presents early, so that I can go over to my dad's house to open gifts at a reasonable time.

I suppose Christmas time has lost its charm as I've grown up, specifically regarding that endless amount of excitement before present time. These days, I appreciate how Christmas illustrates and strengthens the bond within my small family.

Burdens are set aside, dominant personalities are humbled and everyone is just there for one another. Overall, it's a pleasant time of the year.

Specific memories? Well, there was one christmas where I got my first pc of my own. Preloaded with Fallout and Abe's Oddysee. That was pretty life-changing in its own way. :D

There are two that I remember vividly: When I was 12 my parents got me an original Xbox with Jet set radio future which my dad then set up in my bedroom. This was the first time that I was allowed to have a games console in my bedroom so that was a pretty big deal to me. Needless to say that the rest of the holiday was taken up with me playing Jet set radio future with my dad watching and offering advice, it was a great father-daughter bonding experience. To this day that game is in my top 10 favourite games of all time.

The other Christmas was when I was 10 and my parents got me a yellow Gameboy Color with Pokemon pinball, Pokemon red and Pokemon blue. I played it all day at my grandparents place.

Christmas? All of my Christmasses I've ever had have ended in unfavourable circumstances that leave the memories bitter and hateful.

But the only one that hasn't been bad so far is my gran coming home from South Africa to celebrate with us.

My best Christmas memory was many years ago when I was like 6 or 7.
Back then my granddad was still alived which he was the owner of this Chinese restuarant which was the place we all meet up for Christmas day. All of my relatives come over (I have several uncles and an aunt) including my cousins. This is the only day that we are all under one roof and there is no badblood among us, we just don't all meet up together for some reason.
These day I only see one or two uncles and my aunt at the most and Christmas Day is just us staying indoor.

Runner up would be when we slept over one of my uncle house since he had bought this huge house (it was a former mini hotel like house) which had many rooms! That was memorable cos we were using the fondue cooker for dinner (no there wasn't any cheese, we put a bunch of stuff to fried up).

My sister and I were REALLY excited about Christmas and by excited I mean rampant devils children who were driving our parents mad. We got into a lot of trouble and just giggled off our parents discipline.

Well I guess we went to far, because our Mom lost it. She walked up to us, smiled, and said we could each open a present early! So we did, we were so excited. Then Mom grabbed her keys shoved us in the car and made us return our presents we unwrapped on Christmas eve.

Whether we actually deserved it or not I can't recall it was too long ago, but it makes for a hell of a story to tell my nieces and nephews who wont stop acting up during the holidays.
