Sitting down preparing to write a 3000 word essay the day before its due in i found myself thinking about procrastination. Looking back on my 'academic career' i can honestly not think of a time that i have not waited until the last possible moment before getting something done and as yet, i have not been caught out. If anything i feel that the pressure i place on myself by doing this again and again leads to better work.

Do you think that you work better under pressure, are you a chronic-procrastinator? (I ask you kind Escapists as i do a lot of my procrastinating on the forums and i believe that at least some of you out there do as well).

Why I'm procrastinating from writing 4 2000 word reports due in next week right now. That's gonna be a ***** to fit in over the next 7 days.

Oh heck yes. I put the 'pro' in procrastination! I prefer working under pressure, I find it keeps me focused better. As for chronic, yes...yes I am.

Definitely i feel te exact same way (or at least my mind is making up an excuse for my incredible laziness). There is homework I should be doing right now but I'm not.

I am a chronic procrastinator, and while not directly avoiding work (well, not most of it anyway) I tend to push it before me for as long as I can.
Sometimes even missing the deadline. I love the wooshing sound it makes when it goes by ,)
I absolutely hate pressure, competition and time based actions/events.
I especially laugh at schedules, trying to force me into a rut, where I would go along mindlessly not thinking, until it becomes normal, and I end up looking back at my life at 65-70 and wondering where it all went.
I seek out things I am interested in and enjoy.
Needless to say, I do not believe in "must´s", nor duty for that matter.

Ah this thread just reminded me about the work i need to do... Which i'm actually going to do whilst i have enough energy drink in my system, or 'liquid enthusiasm' as i call it.

I procrastinate all the time, especially in my computing class at college. Thats where i post on this forum from more often then not.

Absolutely. Which probably explains the poor quality of my life as I procrastinate on just about everything.

I suck in all academic institutions, I can't get good grades cuz I procrastinate so much. I hate it, and I stress so bad I can't sleep and I eat to much. I will find any reason to not do homework, I'm doing it right now. I'm supposed to be writing a two page paper that's due at 1:00 today!

Hahahaha! I see what you did there, Chronic procrastination! LOL

Oh god yes, I should in fact be preparing for some finals right now, but I just don't feel the urge to work...besides, I've always done things at the last, LAST minute.

Does it work for me? Yes, it does.

Totally. I'm starting to think that maybe there's a link between people who spend their time playing video games and people who procrastinate.

I should do a report and study on this subject. I'll start tomorrow. Or maybe the day after. Actually maybe next week.

Well for those who are procrastinating check out The Onion on youtube, just slap the playlist on and let it play, good way of watching a good half hour float by, plus 'tis funny.

The worst kind of procrastination is 'Sunday Night Procrastination' when something is due on the monday, you get to that point where it feels like there is nothing left to look forward to except the misery of actually doing the work... which usually turns out to not even be that bad.

What a coincidence! I'm 750 words through a 1500 word essay right this moment!
And its due in tomorrow morning.

Definitly a chronic procrastinator myself, just last week I was going through exactly the same thing with another essay I left until the night before it was due.
