Sorely tempted to pick up the game again just to check this out, seriously. Is there a definite date for the release of the retail version of Cataclysm, or no word on that yet?

Can I just say that I love you very, very much for using "piques" properly?
I can't say I've ever seen it mis-used...

I want to say that I loved the underwater level in KoTOR @_@

That is all.
People usually say "peaks".

Man, I was so looking forward to Cataclysm. Now I am cancelling my account for privacy concerns. Why must Kotick ruin everything he touches?

I'm surprised no one is talking about how Blizzard is basically forcing you to post with your real name on the forums and beyond in addition to that harassing little new instant messenger they basically force-fed us last patch.
I really don't see what posting on the forums has to do with anything in-game. It's not like it'll be displaying your real name above your character.

If you don't like RealID, don't use it. I love being able to keep in touch with my buddies on different servers/factions.

Oh dear God, that's just awful.
Though technically, to say your interest has peaked would make sense.
Doesn't stop it being any less annoying though.

Oh, yeah, it's one of the lesser grammar crimes, because you can at least see the logic behind it. But still, drives me batty.

*No one is talking about it here
--Fixed--
There's at least two topics out there on this subject, and you don't even have to post under your full name. =)

Being underwater in games scares me. Scary monsters underwater in games scares me even more. Gigantic shark that would kill my poor priestess underwater would really make me sad. Still, this does look pretty cool...
It scares me too. Specially because I almost drowned TWICE when I was a child. The element of helpless and loneliness is powerfull in the ocean where you can't move well, drown, and don't have a clear perception of your enviroment.

Add a freaking monster who has none of these weakness and which can swallow you whole too (which I find really unnerving too; being suffocated, melted, and crushed slowly is far worse than being choppe by teeth to me).

I really hate those fish that can swallow you whole in Mario games.

BIG FUCKIN' DEAL,
WoW has stolen everything from everyone else.
EQ1 had Shadow knights and an underwater level, and now that blizzard does it its sooooo freaking innovative, FUCK THIS.

World of warcraft is a prepubescent trainwreck.

Underwater level that doesn't suck being the operative word here.

u mad. :(

But really, you can't compare Vashj'ir to either of those levels. Especially if you haven't seen it.

EQ1 Didn't suck, It came out before most WoW players were born, and even if they tried to play it they would fail because it's too difficult for them.

WoW = Easy Mode

Oh, cram it. No, EQ1 didn't suck, I never said it did. We're talking about underwater zones here, not whole games.

And EQ was "difficult" for all the wrong reasons.

By difficult i mean;
Leveling was well paced and meaningful.
End game actually meant something + Wasn't boring and repetitive.
There was no tutorial to hold your hand, No "GAME HINT" Dialog boxes.

can you explain why it was "difficult" for all the wrong reasons?

*Hell levels.

**Are you kidding me? EQ's end game was the very definition of "repetitive." The instanced model is so much better than those old days, because you don't have to stay up chained to your computer just in case your rare mob spawns.

***That's not a good thing. Is there a problem with teaching new players the mechanics of the world?

It was "difficult" in the same way that vanilla WoW was difficult. Because you had to chain yourself to the computer and arrange raids of 50 people in order to get anything done. Because you had to camp spawns or else you'd never get the kill and the loot. Because you lost XP on every death and had to run back and retrieve your gear, which does nothing except take more time away from you not playing the game. Because of Full Heal.

It was challenging because the mechanics were clunky. EQ2 has much more creative and genuinely challenging endgame content rather than stuff that was challenging just because there was an inherent barrier to entry for people who had lives.

EQ1 was the game that gave us the term "poopsocking," you know.

So have they finally after 5/6 years fixed underwater pathing issues for mobs, where being marginally higher than them on the Y plane would cause them to leash. I have very horrible memories of trying to do the final quest from "Stone of the Tides" in STV.
