Otherwise known as "What the heck is the problem that I and apparently only I seem to have?"
So after hearing endless praise heaped upon the Chrono games, I decided I'd drop the money to buy them both and download them to my Vita for convenient play, because I use that and my PC far more often than my PS3.
However, now I find that I'm faced with an issue which apparently nobody else on the internet has encountered: On the Vita (and PSP, I checked), Chrono Cross's animating chugs insanely hard. And it's noticeable from the title menu splash screen with all of the camera pans along the ocean floor, but the weird part is that the music is still playing like the game is running full speed, while the animating is moving at a jerky ~15 FPS or something. This is something I could probably eventually live with, but it impacts even the smoothness of combat when you're seeing characters moving all jumpy and erratically and it just saps a lot of the joy I know I should be feeling.
I checked on the PS3 as well to be sure it wasn't just the download, and on the PS3 it plays at full speed. So I'm left with a conundrum now (and yes, it's basically the embodiment of "#FirstWorldProblems") because I'd really rather not have to play the old PS1 game upscaled into a blurry bloody mess on my TV because the game's resolution was never meant to be displayed on a large screen like that, but the performance of the game on portable devices, at least mine, leaves a lot to be desired.
So the question I'm asking, I suppose, is if anyone else has played Chrono Cross on the PSP or Vita and, if you have, did you experience any performance issues and discover some miraculous fix which has eluded all of my Googling? Or will I have to suck it up and/or play it on something else?
