Depending on your opinion, the following may or may not constitute spoilers. You have been warned.

So, today, after hours upon hours of glorious 16-bit RPG goodness, I defeated Lavos in Chrono Trigger and reached the end of the game. All in all, one of the best RPG experiences I've had; bar none. But that's a story for another day.

After the close of the game and the opening of the anime-style scene signifying the end, I noticed something extremely odd. As it shows the scene of Lucca walking through the woods, she stumbles across a small child with an amulet around its neck. I'm not sure if I'm mistaken or not, but I THINK it was Schala's amulet.

((By the way, this was the ending classified by the game as "Ending 01"))

This led me to think: What the fuck could that mean? And so I come to you, great Escapists, with this great philosophical/plot question.

On a side and less important note: Would a Chrono Trigger sequel be viable? I'm not asking would you want to see one; but could you see a possible plot continuation? If so, what?

Hrmm. I think I've seen this too. I beat it again not too long ago.

I don't think I want another Chrono game, but I think it does have the potential. As a sidenote, I don't think Chrono Cross was nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

Was this in the DS version only or the SNES one as well? The last time I beat this game was on the SNES when it came out so... my memory is a little blurry lol.

I am a fan of both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. It really wasn't that bad. A third game would be so awesome to see...

Yeah that scene is the scene that effectively sets the events of Chrono Cross in motion. I actually highly recommend Chrono Cross.
I actually enjoyed it much more than Chrono Trigger. I felt much more emotionally attached to that game.

Have you played through, or rather read through Radical Dreamers? Its a text adventure on the SNES that was in the same universe that was a different version of Chrono Cross' story.

I liked Chrono Cross myself and have been hoping it would get a port to the PSP or something (DS probably couldn't handle it).

I heard there was supposed to be another game called Chrono Break a very long time ago, but nothing ever came of it.

DS version.
The new CGI scenes where added when the game was ported to the PS1, in a package deal with FF6.

Really? Is Chrono Cross that old? Wow. How do people live with themselves...

Anyways to answer your question (I must say spoilers ahead) the Baby Lucca found is in fact Schala. Right Before Chrono Cross it's said that lucca raised the Schala and then was killed. Schala's name in CC was Kid. The only way of really knowing the truth though is by doing a few of the side missions and getting the true cannon ending. Which ends with a letter signed by Schala "Kid" of Zeal. I could go into more detail about the trapped version of Schala with Lavos but I think I've said enough.

If it isn't obvious I'm a fan of both games and have played both numerous times. Though not in the last 6 or 7 years.

one more thing, Final fantasy Chronicles came with FF4 and Chrono trigger. not ff6.
