Cisco unveils a new router called CRS3 which allows lighting fast internet speeds. Ands thats an understatement. If what Cisco claims is true, you can download every movie ever made in under 4 minutes. Your thoughts? the end of lag as we know it?

Amazing, if true. However, I highly doubt that with our current technological capabilities such a router could be the end of all lag. There'll always be crappy connection speeds. Sounds like it'll definitely help to reduce connection times though, so even if it won't end lag, anything faster than the current standard has to be good, right?

The problem with this technology is the chain is only as strong as its weakest link - unless you have a full ultra-high speed fiber backbone running from you directly to what you want to access, you aren't going to see any speed increases at all when just one part of that chain upgrades to it. The entire structural background of the internet and your countries wiring all need to be up to snuff.

Still, tech like this can only help move the whole morass that is the net forward, so huzzah for that.

A step even a millimeter ahead is good. The current standard is pathetic, the speeds cant handle the content.

Definitely. I recall trying to watch one of the Futurama films for Season 5 the other day. It lasted an hour and a half, but I had to wait with the open tab in the background and my laptop switched on for roughly twelve hours before it finished loading. And my connection times are usually pretty damn good. In a time where game developers demand constant internet access to play [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.178550-DRM-Article-does-it-work-or-not#5260987], we really do need to see a better connection standard.

Writing that amount of data to disks, even SSDs, would by itself take weeks or months.

I could access their page at all. I guess they're having routing issues.
