Cities XL 2011

Being in the mood for some City Building Sims, or just a serious World/City/whatever simulation, I noticed that Cities XL 2011 was on sale on Steam.

Having never heard of this game I tried to find some reviews, but the few I found weren't very conclusive.

So, do any of you Escapists have any experience with this game?
What's it like? Is it fun, etc.

i bought it a month or two ago because it was only like £7 but i havnt played it, so im interested in this thread

It was actually a tad alright. It's probably the best alternative to SimCity out there. It's not like, hardcore planning like SimCity can be, but it is a challenge. If it's on sale, I would recommend it pretty quickly.

I still like a little more details of what the actual simulation part is about?
It seems like this game skipped passed the Internet radar and has very little reviews or videos posted.

Stick with SimCity 4, the epitome of simulation game.

Hmmmm, this is the first I've heard of this game too.

So, I'd like to ask which SimCity game it is most similar to. I consider SimCity 2000 to be the peak of the series, and absolutely hate SimCity 4. Please, someone say it's like 2000. I can't get 2000's sound to work in DOSBox, and without sound it's just not right.
