I'm in the mood for a new city builder-esque game. The type I'm looking for is something along the lines of Caesar, Anno and Pax Romana. Preferably something of the last 10 years. There are thousands of FPS's out there, but way too few city builders. Can anyone help me out here?

Not sure about your references are, but I can think of at least one city building game: SimCity

SimCity is fun, and it's been quite a while since I played it. I'll see if I can find the newest Sim City somewhere. I know Cities XL is coming up, but I heard it's got something with micro transactions? In any case, I forgot about Sim City so thanks for the heads up.

As for my preferences.. I like the Dark Ages as a setting, or Roman/Egyptian stuff. There was a great city builder with ancient Egypt as a theme, but I forgot the name. I think it was called Ramses or something. Anyway, if anyone knows city builders with that setting, let me know please!

I hear Tropico is good. And Tropico 3 is aparently out tomorrow.

You may also want to look into Pharoah.

I reinforce the Tropico suggestion, really great game. The Settlers Series is pretty fun too, if you like resource management, just make sure you pick up a good one, there's a few stinkers in that series.

Fable II...
Kidding of course.
You should probably check out sim city, as the others have said.
Or if a castle is enough for ye, Stronghold. Damn that game is good.

It was called Pharoah. Very fun game I still play to this day.

I suggest trying out Settlers, Tropico and Empire Earth

Cities XL is a major crapfest, according to everybody who beta tested it on SA. They also charge a monthly fee in order to be allowed to build public transport. And you can buy minigames for $10 each.

pharoah was very good though it looks a little dated now. simcity4 is good also, but then all the simcity games are really.

Thanks everyone. It was Pharaoh, indeed. I loved that game, eventhough I probably won't enjoy it that much anymore. I completely forgot about Tropico. I heard about that game and read about it a few times, but I never looked into it more. I definitly will!

Also, thanks for the Stronghold recommendation. It's not exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm quite sure I'll enjoy it.
