I feel that when i get denounced in civ 5 there is not really a way back, suddenly the whole world hates you even the nearest friends. Its just odd, i rarely seem to find out a situation where everyone love me again (or is neutral for that case)
Gold is not helping alot, i just get pissed off and go for a conquest victory.
(reasons for people denouncing me could be that i conquered a other nation that had units at my borders. but still... they started it!)
