There's been plenty of hype about this title, and coming as part of a series of games it's kinda understandable. I was dubious, as I always am, about the level of hype .. but thought I'd give it a try anyway. There have been other more general reviews for Civ5, so I thought I'd give a slightly more 'direct' review .. is it any good? Does it live up to the hype? Or is it like a pensioner's libido - limp and unlikely to cause much arousal ..

nice review
while still complex civ 5 feels alot less complex then civ 4. It's great that the game now enforces a 1 unit a tile system since that means that combat is less no more who has the biggest stack of units. (for example in civ 4 a large enough stack of spearman could beat a small group of tank)furthermore imo you should've talked a bit about the new policy system which is alot more fleshed out then civ 4's civics. though i miss the movies when you complete a wonder (it still has some kind of movie but i found civ 4's more enjoyable)

also small nitpick turn based real time strategy game? that's a contradiction

turn-based is a little old school, but if done well it doesn't matter much, i guess - i did wonder how long a multi-player game would take (days probably)

thanks for the comment :)

I really like Civ games in general, although I haven't picked one up since Civ 3. This one looks a bit different but not enough to scare me away. Actually the opposite really. Nice review

Mate, you sound a little lost on this one. To be fair, I still can't decide whether I like the game, mainly because I loved Civ 4 a little too much and I'm pining for the familiarity it offers. Still this is the biggest shake-up to the formula they've had going since 1990 and I hope it is padded out in the way the last game was.
