Let me preface this with a small explanation. In the late 1980s, Australia went through a recession much like the current global financial crisis. At the time, the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation, for international readers) had a small show that ran once a week called "Rubbery Figures", which was a political satire sketch that made use of puppets with exaggerated rubber heads.
Anyways, this song was made to highlight (and there really is only a tiny amount of satiric exaggeration) the attitudes of those in power. The reason I post it now, is that despite the faces changing (a little. even the under-15 Aussies should recognise at least one of the spoofed), the attitudes expressed herein have not. I've also used this song to explain to a few of my younger relatives why their parents are tearing their hair out in clump. Enjoy!
