I'm getting all nostalgic thanks to this site https://www.abandonia.com

Wanted to discuss some of our favorite classic games -

DOS: Any of the Kings Quest games. Sierra was on top of the adventure game back then. I loved Zork and that line, but the Kings Quest series was by and large my fav.

Nintendo 8-bit: Dragon Warrior. I can still launch and play this for hours. It kept me entertained. Not that I didn't like the Final Fantasy games, I loved them, but this one appealed to me a bit more.

Sega Master System: Never owned one, so I don't recall. As for the 16 bit Genesis...ohhh dunno. Too many tough choices.

Super Nintendo: Again, so many choices....but I'd have to go with Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Win95: Diablo...not much more to say.

Win98: Freelancer.

The hard thing about something like this is that there are so many choices you can put in here. I mean honestly I can make a list that runs on and on of games that I load up and play when I can, but these are the ones I jotted down in the moment.

So, what's your favorites?

1998: Baldur's Gate is released. And all is well in the universe.
Oh yeah. And the expansion and all the hours spent just playing and creating new party combinations and ....yeah.

Jazz Jackrabbit... ah yes, the fun I had running around various weird places, listening to the rocking tunes of Alexander Brandon (I think). Tyrian, too. I used to love Epic Games back before they dropped the "Mega" and were still poor enough that they had to give out shareware and make [or publish] at least reasonably good games.

And none of this Unreal Tournament a-go-go stuff... I mean, the progression goes, what, Unreal Tournament - UT 2003 - UT 2004 - UT 2005 - UT 2 - UT 3... UT 4?

I just... don't really... no, I don't see why I'd want to buy seven or so variants of the same game with incremental graphical updates and minor gameplay changes or additions.

But yeah, Jazz Jackrabbit!

Tetris is always good, and does in fact prove that in Soviet Russia, game beats you.

Loderunner and Popgun pete were great, as was Commander Keen

Any of the LucasArts games. Classic C=64 games like Forbidden Forest, Aztec Challenge, and who could forget Congo Bongo! Yeah! And Boulder Dash!

Below the Root and Alice in Wonderland by Windham Classics...

I'll stop there.

UFO: Enemy Unknown and Planescape: Torment. I don't know if I've found any other games that draw me in as quickly as these two.

Age of empires takes me back... so does when ever I see Noddy on the TV. When I was little I had a Noddy PC game, and I used a big space ball mouse, a yellow ball with two big buttons on it really, but it gave me so much enjoyment.

PC: Alpha Centauri - best civ ever, the level of characterization the factions have still amazes me.
PS: Front Mission 3: Tons of fun blowing mech's arms off, love the option to play on either side of the war.
SNES: FFIII, still have my 200 hour save file.

Well I've got a few.
-Bomberman. I really loved that game on the computer. I allways tried to get people to play with me. I even grew better in that game. I think it's one of the first game I noticed myself getting better due to practice. This was Atomic Bomberman. Never played any of the later ones

-Migh and Magic 6. That was about the ultimate Might and Magic for me. It was great, it was perfect. It was hard. I barely came off the island. And when I did, all I did outside was clean my castle. And try to do quests. Never got very far. Still a game I loved

-Rainbow Island. I just can't mention this game enough. It is by far one of my favourite platform games ever. I'll allways love that game. No doubt about it. This is were my gaming begun.

-Spyro. Allright. It may be childish, but damnit! I completet the first three games of it, and it allways kept me entertained. Sometimes half of my family would sit around and watch as I played. And help me out and stuff. Those were great times.

And the list goes on .. Now I'm off to play L4D .. Offline
