I'd have to say that new games sometimes need to be remade in order to be enjoyed by others who lacked the experience within the historical background to fully appreciate said games. Others, however, are ruined by these events, given that they can still be considered to be universal because of some design choice. Therefore, my opinion is split.

My personal preference would be for resident evil remakes, I loved the games and would like to play them RE4 style.

More like re-imaginings than remakes. Franchise reboots, if you will.

I'd like to see them reimagine Pacman. Going with the trend of most modern games, Pacman would have to be a well-armed badarse with a yellow head, in space marine powered armour, tearing through dark, dank, ghost-infested corridors, trying to recover the lost pills that are the key to regaining his humanity. Power pellets would give you something like the demon mode from Painkiller and the fruit would just be fruit.

Bingo. And when you remake a beloved franchise (like Fallout) you need to be prepared that not everyone will like what you've come up with (as I, personally, thought Fallout 3 was a travesty in the series). One reason classic games are so important to many people is the haze of nostalgia we have around them, our memories of playing them when we were much younger. While it's unlikely the games were actually perfect, we remember them thus. And anything that falls short of that mark is likely to be crucified more brutally than an original title.

Both Resident Evil and MGS got remade, I dunno what it really did for those games. I bet the bad dialogue is Resident Evil was fixed, never played the remake because I love the original. I just hope they took out the bad voice acting of Richard Aiken saying, "Jill... I... uh... uhhhhhhhh."
I would like to see T'ai Fu: Wrath of the Tiger remade. I love that game and I think a remake would be pretty cool.
