So my college housemates are trying to get old 2006 Wii connected to the internet and we're having some issues.
Before I get into the nitty gritty of connection settings, I want to make sure that there is actually any point to trying to connect in case Nintendo discontinued everything on the older console.
They mainly just want it for Netflix if it can be arranged.

So Yeah...Halp plox?

I'm pretty sure I have this wrong, but I remember the old Wii being Wireless b only. So I fixed it by changing my router to 'mixed' so other devices weren't locked to the b standard.

The Wii WiFi supports b/g which should work with any b/g/n router unless it's in 5GHz only mode. Also make sure the security is set to WEP or WPA and not WPA2 since I don't believe the Wii supports that. I believe the multiplayer network services have been shut down but as far as I know everything else should still work. If you give up any Android mini PC (or a HDMI adapter for your phone if it's compatible) would do the job in it's place (and do it better).

I'm starting to remember now.

When I was having issues, I believe it was a combination of the wireless standard (my router was set to 'n' only, so I changed it to mixed) and the use of certain special characters in my WiFi password. There was something like a tilde [http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/writing-for-business/files/2015/01/tilde-2594.png] in there which I changed. I think I had to take an apostrophe out as well.

And note how the original Wii does support WPA2, but only AES [http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/498/~/compatible-wireless-modes-and-wireless-security-types], not TKIP or a combination of the two. Just AES.
