We just couldn't leave well enough alone. We were in system to take on supplies and get some shore leave for a while. When we got the distress signal, we should have just turned around, gone back through the relay, gone somewhere else. Anywhere else. But we kept coming. Why? I don't know. Maybe we thought we'd get something out of it, or maybe we just couldn't turn around and leave and wait God only knows how long it'd take for the Alliance to get here.

When we saw the ship, that nightmarish, death black monster straight from Hell it was too late. There was no running away now, not without making that thing aware of our presence. So we began the investigation.

Claymore should never have gone back to Eden Prime.

* * * * *

Welcome to Claymore, an RP set in the Mass Effect universe, but a bit different. Besides a number of changes that will be revealed over time, the most notable of these is that the Normandy SR-1 was not the closest ship in the system when Eden Prime was attacked. Another ship, the frigate Claymore, a mercenary vessel under the command of Doran Olar also received the distress call from Eden Prime and investigated. What follows could alter the fate of every being in the Galaxy and beyond.

The Claymore is a battered old tramp frigate. It's well armed, armored, and shielded, but lacks most modern military amenities and technologies. The Claymore Company has been around the block quite a bit, fighting in a number of battles in the Terminus Systems and as a contractor in the Skyllian Verse, fighting Batarian slavers and pirates. Claymore is known for being extremely good at their jobs, if being occasionally extremely belligerent.

Name: William Vastasi

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Species: Quarian

Appearance: typical appearance for a quarian, but does not wear the hood over his helmet.

Skills: gifted mechanic, can fix anything, as long as it's not of Quarian origin.

Equipment: Uses a sniper rifle and a pistol that is modified to allow only one massively powerful shot and then overheat.

Personality: Detached and sarcastic, but that values his team members immensely, would never admit to it, but thinks but their safety above all bounty and glory.

History: Origin unknown, William was found at the site of a crashed Quarian ship, whose navigation system had gone down, he was an infant, and the only survivor. He was adopted by a low grade mechanic for the Alliance Fleet and his wife, thus the human name, at a young age, he found that he had a natural affinity with all things mechanical despite never having any formal training. His adoptive father therefore decided to teach him all he knew, amd wamted him to join the Alliance Fleet. But this was still in early days, and Xenophobic policies and attitudes stopped William from being accepted. Outraged by the prejudice and eager to learn more about the galaxy, hedecided to leave his family behind at 16 after getting losing all his money to a batarian mugger, he was offered help by the captain of the Claymore, who offered him a job on the Frigate.

PS: This is my first RP, so feel free to correct the mistakes I will inevitably make, no hard feelings.

I am interested. You mentioned some changes over time. Are they changes that affect the world before the Eden Prime incident or because of the Eden Prime incident involving Claymore and not the original ship in the game?

Both. A lot of stuff is different about this setting, although most of it is under the hood. Let's just say that while this looks like Mass Effect 1, things are going to be a -lot- different. Just to give you an example, Normandy isn't even going to be involved in the Eden Prime incident, the ship sent to recover the Prothean Beacon was a Council cruiser, the Mehrkuri.

Name: Sur'Kesh Ghan Swa Talat Mal Dinest Farkwha Maerrik, or 'Maerrik Farkwha'

Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Salarian
Appearance: Par for the course as far as Salarians go, long (6 ft exactly), thin (110 lbs), and the right horn is slightly larger than the other. His skin color is a navy blue, with grey stripe patterns covering his body, reaching up to his neck where they look somewhat like gills. His eye's are slightly smaller than the average Salarian, and are a purple color. His civilian clothing is utilitarian, and mostly generic. His armor is heavy for a Salarian, or medium to a human, and tissue for a Krogan. Nevertheless, it's sleek, grey, and advanced. If he is seen without his pet pyjack (named 'Simian'), you can assume it's either scavenging, or flinging poo at people he doesn't like.

Skills: Tac-Cloak, sticky grenades (3 at most), and sabotage.
Equipment: A paladin, modified for extra ammo and lower recoil. He also has his pet pyjack, armed with poo, annoyance, and a surprisingly strong shield.

Personality: He on the outset is a standard Salarian, curious and intelligent. He can also be described as 'immature', playing pranks constantly which range from annoying, to flat out impressive, and an omnipresent sense of humor. On the field, he dials it down to tolerable, and can give decent tactical advice if he needs to. Unlike most Salarians, he is a man(?) of few words, and most of them are crappy jokes. He can, however, be considered a coward. If he feels there are no chances of victory, he will run, and if captured he would sing like a bird before you can so much as look at him funny.

History:
And I'll get back to history. Until then, feel free to point out any issues.

Name: Theodore Knox (referred to as Knox)

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Appearance: Wearing faded crimson hair and blue eyes, Theodore Knox stands at 5'11" and is a bit too thin and wiry to be considered a regular soldier/mercenary. He often keeps a faint stubble around his cheeks for no particular reason.

Skills: (Drawn from ME1) Decryption, Damping, First Aid, and Electronics/Overload. Basically, he's an Engie that relies on buffs/debuffs, hacking, and general sabotage.

Equipment: Carries a heavily modified/lightened Sokolov shotgun he's had for a few years, a Savant omni-tool as a backup, and Light Predator armor/visor thingy when in danger of getting shot. Has a bunch of scripts to hack and rewire shields, both friendly and enemy.

Personality: He's subtle, not assertive, unless it's absolutely required, and even then not always. He's never really been able to stand up to others more powerful than himself (he's been beaten down too much), so instead he'll equip somebody else and have them fight his battles for him, and he'll offer crucial support.

History: Growing up with a gang of friends and easy access to high tech toys, the number one thing Knox learned as a child was to keep your pool of resources as wide as possible. When he left home at 18, he continued his ongoing business of selling custom equipment and weapons to friends and firms. After a few years of comfortable living off his trade and maintaining neutrality among various mercenaries, he decided to join the Alliance, where he became a quartermaster there. After about a year, he was finally caught tampering with improving armor and was dishonorably discharged. Seeing that Claymore had a good balance between a steady income, mildly exciting work environment, and minimal risk to being killed for associating with them, Knox decided to sign up.

Here's the sheet. Let me know if anything's wrong but hold the history complaints for a minute as I try to figure out how Knox'll fit into the chronology on the ME universe. There'll probably be some anti-human sentiments, too, in case that's relevant to the rp.
