Clearing up audio files

I'm planning on using my computers built in mic to record lectures in college, the problem is though that I pick up massive amounts of white noise. I'm sitting in my room, which is completely quiet and using my TV as a test, and I can barely hear the TV over the static. Why is my mic hearing what I can't and how can I fix it?

i think there is a program called audio hijack that might help never used it tho so not sure how much it will help for that

Built in mics are usually shite.
Buy one separately.
