So think TitanFall only with more Crack Down and less Gundam.
So it's going to have active multiplayer for about two weeks?
Sounds about right, and that certainly wouldn't surprise me especially if it does indeed turn out to be another multiplayer-only arena based shooter.

OK, to everyone who's complaining about the lack of gameplay, the article JUST SAID there will be a playable demo very shortly here. Which is, of course, the exact opposite of no gameplay. So just stahp with that.

I swear, you'd think Cliffy B. is a war criminal from the amount of hate he gets around here.
At least in my case, its got nothing to do with Cliffy. It's got to do with the fact a seasoned game developer released a cgi trailer telling us nothing about the game, which is kind of a pretty big error on their part nowadays, something we shouldn't expect from any seasoned developer. Hell, years ago when Rainbow Six Patriots trailers were being shown off, they had the good sense to cgi what they wanted gameplay to look like.

I personally felt it would have been smarter to just wait to release the trailer we got until Friday.

It honestly looks kinda interesting, although I'll wait until I hear on the demo before I set an opinion in stone. It's nice to see he's not doing brick-shithouse with a car strapped to him, even if it is 'Mass Effect meets Bastion meets Robocop Remake'.

It told us a lot about the game. Just not the gameplay He probably didn't really think it was necessary to put gameplay in there because again, there will be a playable demo at PAX.

What exactly did it tell us about the game? All I got from it was that it has a very, very generic set up. That doesn't mean that the gameplay won't do something to set it apart, but really? Future cops versus an evil syndicate with what sounds like super weapons/soldiers. If we maybe saw some clips of these soldiers or weapons and got an idea of how they worked, then maybe it would have showed us something about the game. Maybe how the heroes plan to combat it (which could easily be plot) but we didn't.

It tells us the basic history, motivations, setting, possible characters, and general feeling of the game. And if you really wanna pull that "generic" card, I advise you to look at Unreal Tournament. It's a gladiatorial tournament... In SPACE! Or Fable. (original Xbox game) You are a farmboy who finds his destiny as the CHOSEN ONE. NEVER seen that before. Or Payday. Rob banks and stuff! That's it. That's the whole premise. So yeah, I'm sorry but I find it a little laughable that people would be taking the piss out of this game because it looks generic. After all, execution is everything. And for the record, compared to all those other games I mentioned, this game looks pretty darn original.

Now, to be fair, it's not like we have a lot else to go on but at least wait just a little bit for some gameplay to come out before you guys crap all over something. I've read a bunch of Cliff's blog posts and I know he's pretty freaking intelligent. He knows what he's talking about. He knows what he's doing.

I'm certainly aware of what Unreal Tournament is having played it for quite some time. However you aren't going to try to sell that game on it's single player. You're going to sell it on it's mechanics. Just like Call of Duty has done recently you're going to try to sell that game on it's multiplayer. They're both established brands. Most people who buy that game know exactly what they're getting into when they purchase it.

Showing some of these powers and how you can use them would have been better than watching some people ride down an elevator especially considering gravity manipulation is absolutely nothing new in games. And the execution here is what failed. As a serious question here, what motivation did you find for the potential characters here?

To call back on the Rainbow Six Patriots example, that game's trailers gave us an idea of what the bad guys were fighting for and to an extent tried to even get you to sympathize with them.

In regards to Cliff, the fact he is smart is what doesn't help the situation. He's aware of how the industry works, I would have just suspected him to either leak more than what he did, or made it count significantly more than what he did. I hope this game is good and I do really want it to be a good game as well, just a new IP putting itself out there like this doesn't really bring the best attention it can to itself.

Seems like an awfully elaborate premise for an arena based FPS. With a decent narrative you could spin a riveting single player campaign. But according to EA no one plays those anymore. Instead we're probably going to get "Headshot!", "Double Kill!", "Killtastic!", etc, etc.

Still, one can hope.

Well, the obvious ones. Crooks found an opportunity to exploit things and they took it. Obviously motivated, as it says in the trailer, by greed. The law enforcers are there because they're trying to keep things at least somewhat civilized. Simple as that.

And as for the bad voice-over, eh, it's not that bad. I mean, even in the AAA industry, we've seen bad voice work so I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch about it. The question on everyone's mind anyway is... What is the gameplay like.

And RoboCop was basically inspired by judge dredd.
Robocop was inspired by Jesus, if he were an American.

I'm not even making this shit up. It's a fact.

Not sure where I mentioned voicework, but yea, that's about as generic as it comes in terms of motivation. If they explained some sort of moral code perhaps that intertwined things, really anything other than "bad guys can get power/money and the good guys don't want that". There's so much people can do with these games but don't and I hope they start standing out.
