I'm sure many of you (myself included) never heard of Clive Barker until Yahtzee's extremely negative review of "Clive Barker's Clive Barker's Jericho (By Clive Barker)". Since then I mentally sorted Clive Barker into my "bad games" file and promised myself I'd stay well clear of anything he produced.

However, I recently saw on television a movie titled "Clive Barker's The plague". Curious, I read the plot synopsis to find it sounded very intriguing.

One day every child in the world aged 9 and under suddenly falls into a strange, unbreakable coma and foams at the mouth. At precisely 10am and 10pm every child goes into a strange spasm, 10 years later the children all awake and go on an unexplained killing spree.

I thought to myself "Alright I'll give it a chance," only to find myself an hour into the movie going "That's it, i can't take anymore." and changing the channel.

Clive Barker is a prime example that a story can be the most frightening, thought provoking and interesting story ever, but because it is executed so poorly no one can stand to watch it. Kind of like those kids who try to make machinima but record the TV with their phones and what not.

The children who go on the killing spree are so embaressingly designed they might as well done the movie at a school play. The actors seem to think the same as well because they all talk in the same monotone and show no signs of fear or emotion whatsoever... maybe because they were trying to stop themselves from laughing at the children. Speaking of which, it might be possible to connect with the characters but you'll find yourself so distracted by the poor execution of the film that you won't care about them. Only what else is on tv.

Remember those horror movies you hear being made fun of in other movies? Like those low budget films with zombie towns? Well that's basically Cliver Barker's The Plague. If you have an old fashioned love of horror films or if you let plot make up for every other thing that's bad about a film then i recommend Clive Barker's the Plague. If not then i suggest you join me to make sure that Clive Barker sticks to books and never makes another movie or game again.
